OTH Regensburg (full title: Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg, until recently the Hochschule Regensburg) was founded in 1971 as a college of engineering, business studies, and social services. Today it is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Bavaria.
Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg (OTH Regensburg) offers its students an excellent basis for a successful career. The technical university of applied sciences has around 11,500 students. 50 practice-oriented bachelor and master degree programs in engineering, business studies, design, architecture, health, and social studies offer high-quality teaching and research. Modern facilities, such as 120 state-of-the-art laboratories and an award-winning library located on an attractive campus, provide the basis for successful studies.
OTH Regensburg's areas of expertise are energy & mobility, information & communication, life sciences & ethics, production & systems, and building & infrastructure. These areas are tied together by expertise in sensor technology and digitalization.
The university is well-known for its excellence in applied research and benefits from an active network of around 150 partners in the industry. Cooperative applied research spans renewable energy, sensor technology, mechatronics, bioengineering, computer sciences, and automotive engineering.
OTH Regensburg has about 200 partnerships with universities all over the world, including partner universities in Australia. For instance, business students from OTH Regensburg can obtain a double degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast. The international office offers international students advice and information on all aspects of studying and living in Regensburg. A buddy program, mentoring, orientation weeks, and a broad choice of language courses are only some examples of how OTH Regensburg makes international students feel at home on campus and in the city.
As one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany, Regensburg offers an impressive history that dates back to Roman times. Notable historical sites such as the medieval town center, gothic cathedral, and the 12th century stone bridge are all part of UNESCO World Heritage. At the same time, it is a modern city that offers a cosmopolitan outlook and a high standard of secure living with ample opportunities to spend studying and leisure time.
The OTH Regensburg Library sees its role as that of a center of competence and partner in providing specialist literature and information for the entire OTH Regensburg. It is located in a modern new building and is a central learning facility. In addition to books and journals, users will find the latest electronic media, such as e-books, electronic journals, and online access to specialist databases. These wide-ranging services enhance students' information competence and support and encourage access to specialist information.
The Computer Centre is one of the service facilities of OTH Regensburg. It provides computing services for students, teaching staff, administrative personnel, and University management. Its objective is to integrate these services within an overall IT structure.
The Alumni Network is an information, contact, and career network encompassing all subjects, institutions, and faculties of OTH Regensburg. ALUMNI are all former students, graduates, teaching and non-teaching staff, friends, sponsors, and OTH Regensburg supporters both at home and abroad. OTH Regensburg is keen to maintain and intensify contact with its ALUMNI and accompany them as they progress through life beyond university.
