In January 2015, the merger of the University of Montpellier 1 and Montpellier 2 announced the new University of Montpellier's appearance. 2015 is not provided for his birth year. And a century later, medical education is recognized by the Church, which makes Montpellier the oldest School of practicing medicine in the Western world. At the same time, lawyers are beginning to gather in Montpellier around famous teachers as Placentia Bologna. In 1289, the University of Montpellier was officially created by the bull Quia Sapientia of Pope Nicolas IV. Named a Studium Generale, it gathers the teachings of medicine, law, literature, and theology.
