With 14,000 alumni present in all economic sectors, the "Institut National des Sciences Appliquées" of Toulouse, an international, multidisciplinary, state engineering school, is recognized for the excellence of its five-year education, which attracts students of a high academic level and who have obtained excellent results at the Baccalaureat.
INSA-Toulouse provides a range of 8 engineering specializations, including computer sciences, civil engineering, mathematical engineering, and biochemical engineering. Its courses, linked to the latest scientific advances, are supported by the activity of leading-edge research laboratories, backed by large industrial groups, for example, in the fields of new materials for aeronautics, environmental protection techniques, and nano-objects.
Throughout the course, the students are confronted with concrete, complex projects and problems on which they work in groups, with teachers' help when requested. No questions, no lectures… is the principle behind this active learning approach, experimented by renowned universities in America and Northern Europe, and now advocated by UNESCO.
The international dimension has been a priority for INSA since it opened, and international sections have gradually been set up. On-campus, one in five students, is an international student.
INSA welcomes students with a wide range of profiles:

- students opting for a cooperative education alternating periods of academic study and industrial experience
- continuing education students
Being open to the world also involves the student's commitment to the community, which is highly valued and gives ECTS credits as part of the course.
The reputation of INSA Toulouse is reflected in the quality of recruitment levels of our students. Two-thirds of new students have an average of 16.5 at the Baccalaureat. Moreover, this excellence is accompanied by a remarkable degree of diversity.
INSA Toulouse proposes courses specifically adapted for top-level athletes and attracts students passionate about music and dance, developing their artistic skills in the school.
A specific section is now open for students with an Industrial Technology Baccalaureat.
Engineering students take part in the project « ô talents,» an equal opportunities project, helping young underprivileged school children to gain access to higher education.
It is possible to graduate as an engineer through apprenticeship, alternating periods of academic courses, and company training.
INSA Toulouse offers the possibility to attend classes in English to its Incoming Exchange Students. This means that any student whose institution has signed an Agreement with INSA Toulouse (or with the INSA Group or the Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées) can attend these classes.
The objective of this one-year post-Master degree is to offer courses in English dealing with generic aspects of risk management, including concepts of risk and risk analysis (identification and estimation), treatment, communication, and management systems.
These modules of French are proposed on a 25-hour basis, from October to June. It regroups 12 to 15 students on a 2 hours/week basis.
