Yanginanook is a small non-denominational Christian School located in Belrose on Sydney's Northern Beaches. For over 35 years, Yanginanook has successfully educated students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with remarkable results. Our innovative and challenging programs are based on each child's individual needs so that they have the opportunity to excel. Yanginanook is a unique multi-age primary school. We have established a secure and fun learning environment where children want to come to school and learn. We provide each student with a balanced education in a supportive and motivating classroom that promotes creativity, confidence, self-discipline, excellence in learning, and competent social skills. Our multi-age environment caters to all students, including gifted and talented, and experiencing learning difficulties, encouraging all children to succeed and reach their potential. We believe that every child has God-given gifts and abilities and that these are to be nurtured at school. We are an intentionally small 2-teacher school with the resources and expertise to offer a dynamic learning program to all of our students. Yanginanook: Fosters a love of learning, positive self-esteem, and Christian values in a caring, home-like environment. Has a multi-age approach where all children work together and are challenged according to their ability rather than their age, thereby offering remedial and gifted and talented teaching on an individual basis. Has a learning program that caters to all K-6 children in one classroom, giving a strong emphasis on academic, social, and emotional skills. Encourages kindness, tolerance, and cooperation rather than competition. Recognizes and nurtures the unique qualities of each child. Has an open door policy where parent involvement is welcome and encouraged. Uses multi-media and Smartboard technology. Has an eco-friendly focus with a vegetable garden, worm farm, compost, and recycling areas. Has an art shed and kitchen facilities where all children are actively involved in cooking and creative art activities. Is set in the beautiful bushland surroundings of Belrose with easy access to school bus routes. At Yanginanook, teaching staff and families work together to meet the student body and school community's needs. This approach ensures that children experience continuity between school and home, helping them feel secure to have the freedom to develop confidence and independence. We acknowledge that often the most significant teachers that children have are their parents and careers. We work with parents and careers to develop an educational program for the whole child to meet all our students' academic, social, physical, and spiritual needs. Yanginanook is different. Instead of moving towards a larger institution, we have remained a small, Christian community schoolhouse that focuses on our students' needs - by choice! Our students work together in a stimulating learning environment that promotes mutual respect, positive behaviors, and excellence in learning - without the negatives of peer pressure and unrealistic expectations. Children come to school each day and experience the reality of working together in a community that aims to meet each other's needs. Our educational program follows The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus and is taught from a Christian perspective. We want our students to know that they are precious and loved by Jesus and that He has a plan for their lives. We aim to teach the central message of the Bible - to love God and each other. Each week the Bible is shared and discussed. Our students are encouraged to ask questions and seek the Truth for themselves. Prayer points are shared each day, and the children have the opportunity to pray with and for each other. The school also has a Youth Pastor serving as a School Chaplain for half a day each week.
