Yanbu Industrial College (YIC) in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah is a 25-minute drive from the Prince Abdul Mohsin Bin Abdul Aziz Airport, the city's international airport. The College is located about 350KM north of Jeddah on the Red Sea coast, one of the main waterways that connect Saudi Arabia, the world's leading oil exporter, to Europe and Africa. To take advantage of Yanbu's strategic geographical location and transform it into a modern industrial city, the Kingdom formed the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu in 1975. Soon the city became the nation's western terminus of pipelines to transport natural gas and crude oil to the world market. Realizing the increasing need to develop Saudi human resources with high technical education to manage this fast-growing economy, the Royal Commission established the Yanbu Industrial College in 1989. Currently, Yanbu is the host of many heavy hydrocarbons, petrochemical, chemical, mineral, and downstream related industries. The Saudi workforce educated at YIC has helped a great deal in taking the initial investments from industrial developers in the city. In a couple of decades, the College has become one of the significant sources of the workforce for the extensive local economy, propelling Yanbu's industrial sector to becoming a significant contributor to the nation's economy. YIC maintains strong relationships with local industry and the professions. Each program offered in the College has PAEC (Program Advisory and Evaluation Committee), compromises faculty members, and experienced members from Industries and employers. The Committee helps in evaluating and developing our academic programs, bringing our curricula in line with the industry's needs. As a result, there is a great demand for our graduates in the market, and the College maintains a consistently high student placement rate. YIC campus is home to Chemical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power Engineering Technology, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Geomatics Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology students. They have access to thoroughly qualified and experienced faculty members. Most of our programs are accredited by the top international agency ABET Inc. (formerly Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). The English Language Institute at Yanbu is one of the most extensive English language training facilities in the Kingdom and home to a highly qualified male and female faculty working in four distinct colleges. The English Language Institute received the most prestigious international accreditation from the USA-based CEA (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation) in 2012. Applicable to all its programs, ranging from the Foundation year program to the Associate and Bachelor degree levels, this five-year accreditation is a first for any English language training institute in the Kingdom. AT YIC, we provide Competency-based education (CBE) to ensure that graduates of all levels and types of programs are competent to achieve new education levels and function in the real world of work. YIC has a wide range of technologically advanced facilities to support your academic, social, and sporting life at the College. This includes discipline-specific facilities, access to computing labs for all YIC students, and a state-of-the-art multi-purpose hall. The 'Smart Campus' provides fully integrated and automated services to staff, faculty members, and students. The lecture theatres are equipped with smart boards and laboratories with technology equipment in line with the industry's latest. The electronic information kiosks and digital signage screens worldwide provide instant access to critical information and news. Students are connected via wireless Internet access throughout the campus and student accommodation or through computers available to them in state-of-the-art computer labs equipped with printers and scanners. The computer labs are open 8 am to 9 pm exclusively for students. Yanbu Industrial College, an affiliate of the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu, was established in 1989 to achieve the Royal Commission's objectives in developing human resources with high technical education and training for the Kingdom.
