      1. Wolfson Hillel Primary School Originally opened in 1992, we are a two-form entry voluntary aided Jewish nursery and primary school with a maximum pupil roll of 480. At Wolfson Hillel, we aim to help our pupils develop their ‘Jewish Identity by fostering opportunities for them to engage in Jewish learning, traditions, and culture. Our pupils have many opportunities to learn about Israel and its religion and much of this is done experientially. We aim to educate the whole child academically, socially, and physically. Emphasis is placed on identifying each child’s successes and areas for development to enable them to make progress. Our pupils learn to be good citizens - aware of their roles in their communities, in society, and the wider world. Our physical education program has developed significantly over the past several years to ensure our pupils learn a range of skills and have opportunities to develop their abilities in a range of team sports and clubs. Our curriculum concentrates on the skills young people will need in the 21st century - linguistic, scientific, mathematical, technological, and problem-solving. We are aware of the ever-evolving world of technology with which our children engage and plan provision that aims to support this great need. We also provide opportunities for children to develop through the expressive subjects of music, art, and drama. We promote the values, knowledge, and skills that will enrich their Jewish lives and help them to become responsible members of society. National Curriculum test results show our continued academic success. The Hillel school curriculum is integrated into everything we do at Hillel. Its roots lie in ensuring that children enjoy their time at school, take active responsibility for and pride in their learning in the classroom and play well and have fun in the playground. Through three aspects –Myself, My Relationships, and My Learning – teachers give children opportunities to actively develop these skills. As a Modern Orthodox Jewish School, we place a great emphasis on promoting diversity with the children. Our Hillel Curriculum, Jewish Studies, PSHE, and Topics reinforce this. Assemblies are regularly planned to address diversity and key events in other religious calendars. This is either directly or through the inclusion of stories and celebrations from a variety of faiths and cultures. We are also part of school clusters that represent all faiths and inter-school working is promoted where possible. In addition via our Topics, we teach about democracy, civic responsibility, rules and laws, the monarchy, equality, values and virtues, environmental awareness, and action to care for and protect our local and wider world environment via energy conservation for example, and that respect for other faiths and all people is fundamental to our beliefs.
