- Westwood is a happy, thriving community-based school located in the heart of the town of Buckley, Flintshire. We currently have over 240 learners on board, from Nursery to Year 6, with additional provision for Early Entitlement. We are extremely proud of our work as a community school! As a result of the hard work, dedication, and commitment from our team of pupils, staff, parents, and governors, we are now rated as Excellent and Good throughout all areas of school by Estyn who visited in May 2018 - an amazing achievement! Westwood has faced and overcome many challenges head-on in our quest to be the Buckley School of Choice. We are categorized as a Yellow school - in line with our neighboring Buckley schools. The success of the school can be noticed and noted in the recent Estyn report in our competitive standards, secure pupil progress, and enhanced learning environment. Our vast improvements were also formally acknowledged by the Minister of Education for Wales, Mr. Huw Lewis when he came to visit us. This website only offers you a glimpse of what we have to offer. The best way to experience our qualities is to arrange a school visit, via the school office. Visitors always notice how friendly and caring our learning environment is and have also passed comments on how well the staff knows every child by name, need, and nature. We understand that all children deserve to be happy, recognized, and praised, also that individuals must be given every opportunity to achieve their personal goals.
