Our school is singularly focused on the highest achievement for every student, and our teachers have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year with this in mind. Many of our students are new to VHS this year our school is fully staffed with resource personnel to assist students and parents with any of the challenges related to deployments, life overseas, and separation from extended family. The school has a full-time School Psychologist, two Guidance Counselors, and houses two military support positions as well- ASACS Counselor and MFLC Counselor. Our team is trained to look out for students in need of support and will proactively reach out whenever they feel that they can help, and parents and students are also encouraged to contact the school if they would like to talk with someone about these challenges. We are here to help! VHS has a rich tradition of excellence in the Four A's- Academics, Arts, Activities, and Athletics, and a wealth of programs in all areas are here for students. We offer a full complement of AP courses, a variety of music and art classes, activities with room for everyone, and several sports every season. Students who do well in high school feel connected to their school, and VHS has many ways to do so. An activity fair will be held in the fall to inform new and returning students of opportunities. In keeping with the DoDEA mission to "provide an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all our students for success in a dynamic, global environment", the DoDEA Curriculum Content Standards and the Community Strategic Plan (CSP) provide the framework for academic excellence. Our curriculum translates the standards into a sequenced series of statements about what students will learn through their school experiences. Vicenza is a community made up of U.S. Soldiers and service members, Department of Defense civilians, Family members, Italian military personnel, and Italian civilian employees. Our community is based out of the Italian military installations, Caserma Carlo Ederle and Caserma Renato Del Din, and other satellite locations in Vicenza, Italy. We understand the challenges in moving to a new location and hope this information will help you in the transition.
