- Tremains Primary School is a community primary of nearly 500 pupils. The school is organized into an upper and lower department set amid a large housing estate to the east of Bridgend town center. The school caters to children from the ages of 3 to 11 in a semi-open-plan building where staff and pupils work together in shared areas. We also have two local authority Observation Classes (for 3-7-year-olds) that cater to a wide range of additional needs. Tremains Primary is committed to developing a partnership with parents and we believe that this will support the education and social development of our children. We aim to provide the best possible education for the children in a happy, stimulating environment. Throughout their time in our school, your child/ren will have the opportunity for many first-hand experiences to enrich their learning. There are many after-school clubs that your child may attend. There is also a privately run after-school club run by Simply Out of School. The Governing Body works closely with Mrs. Todd, the headteacher, and her staff. As school governors, they are responsible for the strategic direction of the school monitoring and evaluating the performance and effectiveness of all staff, and ensuring that the children make appropriate progress in all areas of their education. They ensure that the budget is managed prudently, act as critical friends to the school, monitor the School Improvement Plan, and are involved in Estyn school inspections. Starting school is an exciting time for children and here at Tremains, we endeavor to make it as straightforward as possible. Tremains is a school for pupils between three and eleven years of age. The school serves the Brackla and its surrounding neighborhood but children from other areas are warmly welcomed. We are fortunate to have a lovely school site which is organized in two separate buildings within the same campus: The Lower School accommodates approximately 200 pupils ranging in age from 3 – 6. These pupils are organized into seven classes, in four shared teaching areas. We are also fortunate to be able to provide for several pupils who need additional support. Our Upper School accommodates pupils ranging in age from 7-11. These pupils are organized into nine classes in shared teaching areas. Within these areas, there are rooms available for quiet study and class discussion.
