Ark Tindal is a nurturing, exciting, and innovative place to learn and we are all driven by the common vision of enabling every child to go to university or into a career of their choice. At the heart of everything that we do is the determination to develop our pupils through a variety of experiences, challenges, and opportunities, whilst enhancing moral values particularly respect, good manners, and good behavior. These are demonstrated throughout the school as noted in our last Ofsted Inspection, where the school was found to be Outstanding in the areas of Leadership and Management and our Nursery and Reception years. At Ark Tindal, we pride ourselves on helping every child to feel safe and happy in the school environment. Children are valued by their classmates and teachers and we have dedicated staff to ensure that all our pupils are settled, comfortable, and ready to learn. It is important to us to celebrate the achievements of our pupils, be it academic, sporting, artistic or in social groups outside of school. Parents and carers are at the heart of our school community and so we run regular courses for them – including learning English as a second language – as well as holding weekly informal coffee mornings on a range of subjects relating to school life. Our families make a valued contribution each year to our charity fundraisers and are invited to attend a range of events throughout the school year. We are always keen to communicate with parents and welcome feedback from them. The last academic year saw progress for reading, writing and maths in the top 10% of the country for the second year running, showing once more how hard our staff, pupils and their families work. However, it’s not all about results at Ark Tindal we also have a fantastic music program, where our pupils learn djembe drums, ukelele, singing together and have the chance to learn violin from our classically-trained violinist. We are part of the Ark network of high-performing schools, which includes five other schools in Birmingham – including nearby Ark St Alban’s, one of the city’s best-performing and Outstanding secondary schools. The Ark network is part of an international education charity, which includes schools in Birmingham, Hastings, London, Portsmouth, and even Delhi, India. We want every pupil at Ark Tindal Primary Academy to do well enough so that by the end of key stage two they are ready to meet the academic and social demands of secondary education. To achieve this we prioritize six key principles: We set exceptionally high expectations for all our pupils which we reinforce constantly as they go through school. ARK Tindal is characterized by a respectful and orderly environment, where teachers can focus on teaching and pupils on learning. We aim for uninterrupted teaching and learning to make exceptional achievement possible. Nothing is more important than excellent teaching, underpinned by high-quality professional development. We make intelligent and appropriate use of data to improve teaching and the curriculum and to ensure that no child is left behind. We draw on evidence and experience of the best ways to achieve excellent outcomes for all children. Our longer school day provides more time to embed core subjects and to extend the curriculum through enrichment. Our curriculum is planned to provide pathways from any level at entry to high achievement at the exit. A strong command of English and mathematics is a vital foundation for the whole curriculum. We prioritize depth before breadth so that all pupils secure firm foundations in these core subjects as early as possible. Ark Tindal Primary Academy is a small school which means every pupil knows and is known well by every teacher within their small school. Positive relationships between pupils reinforce a culture of an excellent teacher.
