To know the world is to know ourselves. The highest endeavor of education is to help children to grow and develop as balanced individuals who will become able, out of their initiative, to impart purpose and direction into their lives. Our task as educators at Tallowood is to provide the right environment for children to think creatively, feel profoundly and perceptively, and act morally and with a sense of responsibility toward themselves, towards others, and our planet. Tallowood Steiner School has its primary aim to provide a unique, high-quality primary school education based on Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy of education and child development. The Steiner curriculum at Tallowood is responsive to a small country school with mixed aged classes. Our rich and multi-layered curriculum has two branches, one that allows for a two teacher composite and caters for a three teacher composite arrangement, depending on enrollment number and staffing expertise. Tallowood offers a human-centered approach to teaching and learning, and our curriculum includes a balance of academic, practical, and artistic experiences. The curriculum has been developed to ensure compliance with all Board of Studies requirements. Tallowood offers an affordable Steiner education, which is accessible to everyone regardless of income. Our parent commitment to working bees, fundraising, and other community activities make this possible. A robust and involved parent body is an enduring aspect of Steiner Schools worldwide.
