  1. To keep the pillars of our civilization healthy into the future, we need to keep the underlying spirit of service alive by taking care of our weakest and oldest members and preparing for the upcoming changes that will take place in our societies. Our University is expanding into new fields to address the needs of a constantly changing society and reach out across the borders to work together for a better world. Getting to know each other will better further the ultimate goal of harmony and altruism We started very humbly as a college in 1966. Following our dreams, our institution has grown into a well known and respected university trying to achieve excellence with a strong desire to continue developing. The joy of health and the compassion that arises from sorrow is the source of energy that will unlock your inner potential. We want to invite you to consider Takasaki University of Health and Welfare as your University of choice when selecting to study in Japan. Beginning in 2011, we are welcoming international students to come and experience living to their fullest. Takasaki is waiting to make you feel at home. Takasaki University of Health and Welfare established the Child and Family Support Center in 2005 to support children and their families' health. Since then, the Center has been working to tackle mental and physical health issues through consultations with pediatricians, psychiatrists, nurses, clinical psychologists, social workers, and childcare specialists. This program started in April 2006; all parents and children who can visit the Center are welcome to attend. Sessions are held from Monday to Thursday, twice a month on alternate weeks from 10:30 to 12:00. They are divided into five or six groups of parents with pre-kindergarten children aged 0 to 3. At these sessions, parents and children enjoy seasonal songs, exercises, and creative activities, as well as sharing a lunch box before going home. During the lunch break, a selected professional such as a psychologist, pediatrician, family health specialist, childcare specialist, or a mental health and welfare specialist will deliver a concise lecture related to their specialty, after which parents can follow up with questions or other inquiries about child-rearing issues among others. This program is one of the core activities of the Center. It has been shown that mothers who have participated in this Parent and Child Classroom have experienced, among other benefits, a significant mood improvement. International students who passed the Japanese Exchange Test and enrolled in Takasaki University of Health and Welfare are eligible for a scholarship that covers 30% of the annual tuition and enjoy the regular benefits granted to regular students.
  2. The Takasaki City University of Economics aims to contribute to the development of society both within and outside Japan, as a center of academic research, by providing a broad knowledge base with specialized academic research while nurturing students who are eager to pursue truths and peace and to explore theoretical studies and their applications. Since its establishment in 1957, the Takasaki City University of Economics (TCUE) has developed as a regional public university offering a unique learning experience to students coming together in Takasaki. In 1996, the university doubled enrollments by establishing the Faculty of Regional Policy as its second faculty, while stepping up its global orientation by welcoming numerous students from abroad, especially Asian countries. In this milestone 60th anniversary year, TCUE has launched the Department of International Studies in the Faculty of Economics to deliver an education system geared to learners' needs in our current age of increasing globalization. As we are all well aware, the world has been experiencing a deepening confusion in the 21st century. The ever-intensifying confrontations and conflicts between nations, ethnic groups, and religions are leading to a denial of the existence of humanity itself. The world's nations are also commonly facing borderless issues such as environmental problems, including global warming and limitations in the existing energy supply system that depends on fossil fuels and nuclear power. Given the inevitability of economic and social globalization, we are pressed to keep pursuing global economic and social systems equipped to solve these impending issues. Meanwhile, as the aging and shrinking population drive local communities in Japan to the brink of collapse, regional areas are plausibly referred to as a thing of the past. Also, widening social disparities are also unsurprisingly undermining the stability of local communities. Regenerating local regions and ensuring their independence and stability are challenges that need to be tackled immediately. TCUE transformed itself into a public university corporation in 2011 and, in this year, is embarking on the period covered by its second medium-term plan. Under the plan, it upholds the target of "serving as a center of intellectual inquiry that is both deeply rooted in the local region and open to the world." To achieve this goal, we are endeavoring to: (1) educate our students to become independent and promising individuals equipped with a global mindset, creativity, and practical skills that will enable them to contribute to the development of Japan, including its regional areas, as well as the world (2) pursue spontaneous and creative research of a high standard, and serve as a research hub that helps expand the chain of academic research within the local region, across Japan and beyond and (3) give back to society at large the products of the university's intellectual resources. Strengthening student learning is our utmost priority. At TCUE, in addition to offering a solid specialized education, we are placing a particular focus on bolstering our foundational primary education curriculum. The objective is to prepare students to fully absorb the ensuing specialized education and empower them with the necessary abilities to contribute to society's development. The significance of TCUE lies in its function to produce graduates who can fully demonstrate their abilities in society, and we expect our students to grow into such individuals. The number of TCUE graduates now exceeds 30,000. These people have evolved into critical human assets that sustain local communities and corporations across the nation. We are determined to further develop the university into an educational institution that lives up to regional Japan's high expectations and needs.
