It is our vision at Stechford Primary School to provide a broad and balanced curriculum so that all children have the opportunity to develop their interests and skills. Our curriculum is designed to link subjects in such a way as to maximize the learning potential of every lesson and develop the children's understanding in as broad a context as possible. At Stechford Primary School the curriculum subjects support each other to allow each child to achieve their full potential. Stechford School we are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum. As part of this ethos, we believe that children should be taught the values and standards which will ensure our pupils become happy and productive citizens. We believe that these skills equip children for a safe and successful life. At Stechford School, as with a great number of Birmingham schools, we follow the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus. The curriculum was designed with input from all the represented religions in the area and it is designed to meet all statutory requirements. While it is extremely rare, it is the right of parents to withdraw their children from R.E. and related activities. The School procedure is that any parent wishing to withdraw their child from any activity should in the first instance contact the class teacher. The request may then be passed on to a member of the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate. At Stechford Primary School we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of our staff, our pupils, and their families. We learn about British Values through a variety of events and our curriculum includes lessons, assemblies, and performances to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world. We know that the components of British Values are not exclusively “British” and are held dear by other nationalities, schools must keep children safe and prepare them for life in modern Britain. At Stechford Primary School we take our responsibility to promote 'British Values' as integral to all our practice. We also recognize that the values we represent and teach are common to many communities and groups. We wish to equip our children to be productive and content members of society, to this end, Stechford Primary School has produced the Skills And Values Education curriculum (S.A.V.E.). Through our weekly SAVE lessons, we promote the values and responsibilities of being a good citizen and provide the children with valuable life skills which will allow them to be healthy, happy and feel as though they are a valued citizen. At Stechford Primary School, we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents, and carers irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, sexual orientation, age, or socio-economic background.
