Starbank has for many years been a very popular and successful primary school. In response to demand for places, we became an all-through school from September 2014 onwards. As part of this development, a brand new building opened on Hob Moor Road (in September 2016). School Aims: To be open and inclusive to all parents. To provide a secure and caring environment. At Starbank we work hard to build trusting relationships with all children and families to ensure their engagement and enjoyment in every aspect of school life. We believe that the environment we offer plays a crucial part in developing all our children into happy, healthy, safe, and motivated learners. At Starbank School, we aim to deliver a thorough and challenging curriculum that provides our pupils with a secure base of knowledge. Pupils will have many opportunities to build on previous learning and apply their Maths and Literacy skills to become effective communicators and problem solvers. Our school’s integrated program of study, underpinned by British Values, will ensure that our pupils are engaged and stimulated through exciting learning opportunities this will enable the children at Starbank School to develop their creativity and become independent learners who are prepared for the future. The curriculum will: Promote children’s engagement in learning through inquiry-led approaches that develop skills, dispositions, and attitudes to learning. Equip children for their futures in a rapidly changing world recognizing the importance of technology, science, languages, and communication for dialogue and understanding between different groups value, celebrate and build on children’s religious and cultural heritage and develop a sense of identity, honoring the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Promote the fundamental shared values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Help children develop an understanding of all faiths and none, and participate in the celebration of different religious events in understanding and accepting differences. Develop children holistically: their intellectual, practical, aesthetic, spiritual, social, and emotional capacities. Ensure an understanding of protected characteristics of the Equality Act and how through diversity they can be celebrated. Encourage children to accept responsibility for their behavior, show initiative, and understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality in which the school is situated and to society more widely.
