- Sorry Primary School is a special place. Our children are happy, motivated, enthusiastic, and independent learners. They are encouraged to build their learning power and thinking skills, to develop their philosophical questioning as well as to help and care for each other. Staff is motivated, enthusiastic, committed, and dedicated to the children and the community. The partnership we have with parents is essential if children are to flourish and reach their full potential. We are proud of our links with the Sofrydd community and the climate of trust, equality, and mutual respect that exists within the school. Our motto, 'On a Learning Journey Together with our aims, was drawn up in consultation with children, staff, parents, and governors. They unite us and help us to strive to be an excellent school in an excellent community. The children and young people of Blaenau Gwent interact with technologies such as the Internet and mobile phones daily. The communication and interaction with high-quality, visually stimulating resources can be of great benefit, but can occasionally place young people in danger. Deciding on the right and reasonable balance between controlling access, setting rules, and educating young people for responsible use is not always easy. It is the role of all those involved with young people to be aware of the issues and strategies to ensure safe, critical, and responsible ICT use wherever they may be. The Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB), the Local Education Authority (LEA), and the police have been working at raising awareness of the child protection issues in Blaenau Gwent surrounding the use of technology. This strategy has been drawn up in consultation with all parties. It is also the intention that parents will be made aware of our commitment to e-safety via parent workshops in our schools. We believe that to try to deny access to unsuitable material would be to try and stop the tide. We aim to educate and empower the youth of Blaenau Gwent to make informed decisions and be aware of the support structures in place if they feel they have been put at risk or violated in any way.
