  1. With the help and support of local communities, Shizuoka Sangyo University's School of Management was founded in 1994 and its School of Communications and Informatics (now the School of Information Studies) in 1998. Since then, the university has become known in the surrounding community as a university with a youthful spirit and a clear vision for the future, making significant contributions to the development of industry in Shizuoka Prefecture. Our basic philosophy is to promote the specialized vocational knowledge demanded by the industrial and international society of the 21st century, and we regard the provision of advanced education as our mission. SSU provides the following: A flexible curriculum allows students to choose the department and course in which they will major in their second year. An intimate, family-like atmosphere by emphasizing education by friendly teaching staff to small groups. A richly satisfying life for international students through activities that encourage communication with Japanese students and the local community. An arrangement whereby Japanese students assist international students with their studies and pairs of students help each other with language study. Careful guidance for students seeking employment in Japanese companies (94.0% of international students find employment). Individual counseling for students wishing to enter graduate school has resulted in the gaining of places at famous universities for several students. A system that enables international students to consult with informed administrative staff whenever the need arises. Series of lectures by experts from the business world on 20 different practical themes. The School of Management aims to provide "extensive, in-depth learning" and "systematic and specialized knowledge of business management." For this reason, first-year students do not choose a department or course but concentrate on general education and school-wide subjects. Students separate into the Department of Management, the Department of Sports Management, or the Department of Management Psychology from their second year to gain specialized knowledge. The School of Management aims to provide "extensive, in-depth learning" and "systematic and specialized knowledge of business management." For this reason, first-year students do not choose a department or course but concentrate on general education and school-wide subjects. The International Center assists international students by making housing arrangements, offering consultations relating to university study or visa application procedures. It also provides a range of other services, including making information available on scholarships and intercultural activities. All students who will reside in Japan for a year or more must have health insurance coverage under the National Health Insurance scheme. National Health Insurance is a health insurance scheme that reduces the cost to individuals who have to go into hospital, or become sick or suffer an injury. It is necessary to pay a monthly premium. To make international students' campus life more enjoyable and fruitful, we encourage them to join on- and off-campus cultural and social activities promoted by the International Center. These include events put on by local city organizations, volunteer groups, international exchange organizations, and activities at local elementary/junior/senior high schools. Also, there are many student club activities on our two campuses. Joining these activities helps improve Japanese language skills and make friends with our Japanese students.
  2. Shizuoka Eiwa Gakuin University was founded in 1887 by Canadian missionaries. In 1966, the junior college was first opened, and then, in 2002, the university was established. As such, Eiwa has a long tradition in education based on Christian values. We are tremendously proud of our graduates, many of whom have contributed to regional development. With Christianity as its cornerstone, our approach to education and study is grounded in the spirit of “Love and Service.” To respect each other is nothing but “the practice of love” as in our scripture, “a faith that includes the practice of love is most important.” It is also to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I would be grateful if you could deepen your learning in various academic fields to create a sustainable society. Please be aware that you are loved and serve others with your deepest love in that learning process. At Eiwa, you will meet people who will become your friends for life and find real enrichment. It is my wish that all of Eiwa’s students open up the future of a convivial society. With a school philosophy of “Love and Service” based on a spirit of Christianity, Eiwa nurtures its students to develop into people with a rich international perspective who contribute to the local community and humankind. Eiwa offers a variety of learning facilities in the heart of nature representative of Japan, such as Mt. Fuji, where one can fully savor the beauty of the four seasons. The new school building was completed in 2009. The campus features a library with a storage capacity of 108,000 books and 219 reading seats, a computer center, language laboratory (LL), worship center, volunteer center, Overseas Student Center, multipurpose athletics field, Interdisciplinary Mind Research Center, a gymnasium, and so on.

    Shizuoka University

Our university started on the path to the present "Shizuoka University" after incorporating the former Shizuoka High School, Shizuoka Normal School and Shizuoka 2nd Normal School, Shizuoka Normal School for Youth and Hamamatsu College of Technology (formerly Hamamatsu School of Technology, in 1949) and absorbing Shizuoka Prefectural College of Agriculture (in 1951). At these former colleges and high schools, educational policies that placed importance on students' independence through "freedom, enlightenment, and broadmindedness" were implemented. Among these, at Hamamatsu Technical Junior College, students were educated in the freest environment that took into full consideration their personalities, academic abilities, and capabilities, and respected their individuality. The educational program aimed to fully cultivate their natural endowments under a philosophy of "Freedom and Enlightenment". Such a philosophy is essential in education and original research based on unbinding free ideas and collaboration with a mutually enlightening society. Under this understanding, Shizuoka University will continue to pursue "Freedom and Enlightenment" in education, research, and social collaboration as our mainstay. With a philosophy of "Freedom and Enlightenment", students and teaching staff proactively pursue education, study, and social collaboration, striving for the "Creation of the Future" - creating a future that is peaceful and abundant. As members of the local community, we respect the regional environment and culture and respond to society's expectations. Moreover, we will bravely stake severe global environmental issues, food issues, poverty, war, and the collapse of the traditional community and sense of values. Thus, all the people involved with Shizuoka University, noting first and foremost the students and teaching staff, share at large the philosophy of "Freedom and Enlightenment & Creation of the Future" and strive to create a peaceful and happy future while trusting in each other, studying, and respecting individual diversity. Under the philosophy of "Freedom and Enlightenment & Creation of the Future", our university recognizes diverse backgrounds and values, forms well-rounded characters full of a noble sense of mission and spirit of inquiry, promotes the discovery, passing down and utilization of knowledge, and develops along with society in the name of peace, the well-being of humanity, and the future of the Earth. Shizuoka University will cultivate learned individuals who are endowed with a sense of responsibility for the future of the Earth, an international outlook, a high level of specialized knowledge, the spirit to take on the challenge without fear of failure rich humanity. Shizuoka University strives toward a scholarship that can contribute at all levels to worldwide peace and the prosperity of humankind through the pursuit of academic research, which is abounding with creativity. Shizuoka University will contribute to society by working hand-in-hand with local communities, addressing earnestly the various problems that society faces, and functioning as a beacon tower for the promulgation of culture and science.
  4. Hamamatsu's city has long flourished as a town devoted to manufacturing products that include textiles, musical instruments, and transportation equipment (vehicles and motorcycles). In recent years, new businesses in the industries such as optical technology and electronic technology have also opened their doors in Hamamatsu. The city has also become known for its commitment to music in hosting various international competitions, one of which is the Shizuoka International Opera Competition, which SUAC is involved in. Located in downtown Hamamatsu, Shizuoka University of Art and Culture was launched in the year 2000 as a university founded and operated with the local industries of Shizuoka prefecture Hamamatsu city. The institution became a public university of Shizuoka prefecture in 2010. Just as Hamamatsu's city has opened itself to the world, SUAC aims to be an open university. Hamamatsu's population includes many non-Japanese, which makes it an advanced urban center in which multiple cultures reside in harmony. It is a very coexistence model, with residents transcending the boundaries of language, customs, and culture that might otherwise divide. We have on our faculty unique professors who are successfully active inside Japan and overseas, and we strive to provide education with practical applications. Shizuoka University of Art and Culture (SUAC) upholds two ideals that we strive to achieve in education, research, and local and international exchange. We educate students to possess a rich sense of humanity and a keen awareness of society and the times. Graduates will join the workforce prepared to engage in many fields in international society actively. We will contribute to developing the local and international communities as an open university that functions as a place for education and research, bridging the local and international communities and multiple generations. SUAC offers two faculties: Japan's first-ever Faculty of Cultural Policy and Management and the Faculty of Design, based on Universal Design principles. Through close interactions between the two, both faculty strive for education and research that nurture a broad perspective. With a student body of over 1,500, our learning arena has been extended to foreign countries through international exchange programs. SUAC is providing research and education activities that make it possible for students to contribute to an enriched future society. All people can accept their differences and respect each other for the comfort of all. Students can learn the rationale for Universal Design, which seeks to create a society and objects that are easy to use for all people, regardless of age, gender, physical ability, and language ability. The principles of Universal Design have even been incorporated into the university's facilities' design and details. Students are actively engaged in activities independently, such as participation and acquisition of awards in Universal Design competitions. The principle of multi-cultural coexistence is that people of diverse nationalities and ethnicities accept their mutual cultural differences and strive for equality. SUAC has a team of specialist professors who are proceeding forward with research, student education, and contributions to the community. Learning activities go beyond lectures and include learning support projects for children of foreign nationalities and volunteering in community events. Art management refers to the management of bands, dramatic troupes, halls, theaters, art museums, etc. This study's characteristic is that it is for the management of non-profit organizations devoted to the public good. As a member in full standing of the AAAE (Association of Arts Administration Educators), the faculty and graduate schools of SUAC provide curricula that meet international standards. Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate schools are currently active in art management at cultural facilities and other venues nationwide.
