Many of our children join Shacklewell Primary School in the Nursery, aged three. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school but children meeting the Local Authority’s entry requirements will move on to the reception where they will be joined by children new to the school. You are very welcome to visit us before enrolling your child. Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment when a member of staff will be available to show you around. We provide a resourceful and excellent start to early learners in our 2-year-old provision based within our school. Please click on the link below to see if you qualify for 15 hours of free child care. If you meet the criteria and are eligible you will be issued with a reference number which you can bring to the school office to arrange an admission into this provision. Pupils who are 3 years old can make an application to the Nursery in our school. Our approach to the curriculum is to provide the highest quality provision, utilizing the skills of all our staff, to inspire all our pupils to achieve their full potential. At Shacklewell Primary School we believe that assessment is fundamental in enabling teachers to extend and challenge our children’s learning, supporting them in reaching their full potential. Our Federation of schools incorporates assessment into their teaching strategies as an integral part of teaching and learning. The assessment gives our teachers a whole school framework within which different levels and perspectives merge. This framework allows us to set educational objectives, inform class planning, design next steps for individual pupils and develop a robust system of school development. We aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by protecting them from maltreatment preventing impairment of children’s health or development ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes. Shacklewell Primary School is committed to serving its community. It recognizes the multi-cultural, multi-faith, and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom. It also understands the vital role it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalization by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them. The New Wave Federation Governing Body plays an important part in the life of our schools. The Governing Body is the school’s accountable board. The Governing Body is a corporate body. This means that the Governor shares collective responsibility and individual Governors can only act on behalf of the Governing Body if they are given the authorization to do so. Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools to boost the attainment of pupils from low-income families. It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help children reach their full potential. Funding is allocated for children who are Looked after by the Local Authority (CLA) and for every child who is registered for Free School Meals. The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sports activities they offer their pupils. Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of the PE and sports activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money. View full school
