We are proud of the company we keep as one of 28 Jesuit colleges in the U.S. alongside universities such as Georgetown, Xavier, and Gonzaga. About 50 percent of students are Catholic, so we offer activities for all denominations. A Jesuit education is prestigious and, in short, it prepares our graduates to lead, shape, and change the world around them. Rockhurst University academics are rooted in Jesuit philosophy and the liberal arts tradition with both undergraduate and graduate-level programs. Academic Advising is available to help students explore and learn about academic career options and university policies and procedures. At Rockhurst University, each student is assigned an academic advisor. Most often, the assigned advisor will be a faculty member from the student's area of interest. Each college within the University has a Director of Academic Advising who supports faculty advisors and serves as a resource for students. Students should see their assigned advisors discuss selecting an appropriate study program and choosing courses that will complete degree requirements. As a student, you can make the most of your college experience by understanding student and advisor roles and responsibilities. Rockhurst students are encouraged to study abroad through accredited programs that open the classroom door to the world. A variety of well-established programs are available worldwide through several affiliated universities and study abroad providers. Admission to Rockhurst sets you up for success. With just 3,000 students attending each year, we take your education personally. The Rockhurst University campus life office is a central resource for the student experience, coordinating everything from campus involvement to residential living. Student Life complements the Rockhurst mission and values by sponsoring and supporting programs, services, and activities that support learning, leadership, and service in the Jesuit tradition. Getting involved outside of the classroom through student organizations provides valuable leadership and practical, hands-on experience to prepare students for future careers. Research has proven that students involved outside of the classroom experience a higher satisfaction rate regarding their undergraduate experience and are more likely to graduate than their peers who are not involved. Meet us on the quad in the fall for our student life fair to find the perfect group you would like to join. International student services provide vital immigration services to students holding an F-1 Visa. These services include U.S. government-required regulatory record-keeping, assistance in the maintenance of status, employment authorization, letters of support, extensions of stay, reinstatement to, and status change. Rockhurst seeks to create a greater awareness of diversity through active involvement and interactions among the entire campus community. The office is working toward a diverse, more inclusive atmosphere on campus with administrators, staff, faculty, and students. International student services provide vital immigration services to international students, administrators, faculty, and staff about nonimmigrant visas and status. Transitioning to college successfully is a vital part of becoming a successful college student. We hope that each student seeks out the assistance they need to accomplish this. There are many new things to adjust to, and sometimes students feel bombarded by academics' demands and the changes in their environment. Seeking assistance and developing good habits early are essential to this adjustment. Rockhurst University is committed to providing equal opportunities for all. Since 1914 Rockhurst has been educating young men in the Jesuit tradition. We are part of the even more extended history of Jesuit education, one that began in 1548. Though much has changed since that first day of school, over 100 years ago, our adherence to the Jesuit values has not changed.
