  1. Bishop Ridley is a successful and popular primary school. We live our school life in line with our core Christian values of Trust, Forgiveness, Thankfulness, Compassion, Friendship, and Humility. We have close ties with Bishop Ridley Church on The Green and welcome children of all faiths and none. Our children are our biggest asset. Their behavior is a strength and we are dedicated to helping them achieve their full potential. Pupils and staff have high expectations and the school has a calm learning environment. Bishop Ridley School will diligently promote effective learning and discipline through the support of the school, the family, the Church, and the wider community to achieve academic excellence as well as personal, social, and spiritual fulfillment within a Christian foundation. At Bishop Ridley we aim: to provide an excellent education for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds in the context of Christian belief. to create a Christian ethos built upon the belief in the uniqueness and worth of the individual, based on Christian principles and a respect for other faiths. to create a secure and happy family atmosphere, committed to the care of each member of the school community. to maintain and develop strong supportive links between school, home, parish, diocese, and the wider community. to build and nurture our children’s confidence, self-esteem, creativity, and skills within an inclusive and caring Christian environment. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Bishop Ridley School will diligently promote effective learning and discipline through the support of the school, the family, the Church, and the wider community to achieve academic excellence as well as personal, social, and spiritual fulfillment within a Christian foundation. We are a two-form entry, that is, admitting 60 children each year in Reception. We have two classes in all-year groups up to and including year 6. We also have a morning and an afternoon Nursery which admits 26 pupils in each class. The curriculum is thoroughly planned and teachers use a variety of methods to teach it. The methods used (such as whole class or group teaching) depend very much on the lesson content and on the needs of that particular group of children. Children with special needs usually have work differentiated for them (mostly in Literacy and Mathematics) and the more able pupils are given extension activities or set more challenging tasks wherever appropriate. Teachers are supported by a team of Teaching Assistants, who work with small groups and individuals within the class. Under The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races, and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

    Ridley College

In our Lower School, you will discover inquiry-based learning in all classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Students engage with 'big ideas' and pursue essential and enduring questions – "what is an economy, and how does it impact the human experience?" You will see students Skype interviewing an anthropologist from Kansas. You will hear the excitement of innovation in the robotics lab. You will meet young adults who confidently pursue their passions – academic inquiry, athletic endeavor, or artistic expression in our Upper School. You will see focused, disciplined students leading a Socratic seminar in a literature class, singing a solo in Chapel, or persevering through a two-kilometer time trial in our indoor rowing tank. Cultivating the full potential in each student requires a caring, committed, and world-class faculty. The task also requires intimate relationships that are built day by day, year after year. At Ridley, you will find a community of adults who are excited to build those relationships. As a boarding school, Ridley provides students with a 24/7 experience to cultivate those lifelong bonds with peers and adults alike in the classroom, in the House, on the ice, or in the theater. The reality is that one cannot be sure what children and young adults can do until we challenge them to be their best. At Ridley, students are surrounded by peers who share their sense of purpose, believe in the value of hard work, and build the courage to pursue their dreams. Add to this the experience and care of a community of adults dedicated to nurturing their potential, and you have the Ridley formula. Ridley students are empowered to embrace their individuality, develop who they are, strive for who they will be, and define the lives they will lead. They develop the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social skills needed to succeed. They are inspired to acquire the knowledge, explore the truths, and nurture the values that will allow them to lead flourishing lives. As an IB World School, Ridley is the only independent boarding school in Canada. One of only three in North America is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum program. Prior study in the IB framework is not a pre-requisite for a Ridley education. New students can enter the program at any level. Our learner-centered approach to education enables all students to adapt quickly and thrive within the program. Ridley also maintains an "open access" policy for any student wishing to undertake the IB Diploma Programme level study as either a selection of courses or a full Diploma Programme. This unique framework has been developed independently of government and national systems. It incorporates best practices identified through educational research and by the IB's global community of schools. These ten attributes are part of a learner profile the IB believes can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national, and global communities. Devoted, passionate, and generous are only a few ways to describe our Board Members. The Ridley College Board of Governors is comprised of 16 volunteer members who serve five-year renewable terms. Governors and additional Standing Committee Members generously give their time and talents to serve our school and are committed to the successful governance of Ridley College. Ridley College has spent the past four years working closely with the Board of Governors and Leadership Team to develop a strategic vision that will address its students' future needs and the campus.
