Their experiences in Ravenscroft support and promote British Values in all aspects of school life. Democracy for instance is embedded by pupils understanding that our governors are mainly elected and by children being involved in several decision-making processes. The Rule of Law is evident for example in the school’s hierarchical structure and the high standards of behavior expected and maintained in the school. Also, the school adheres strictly to national laws relating to attendance, national assessments, healthy food, etc. Individual Liberties are evident throughout the curriculum and individual rights such as the freedom to wear certain clothing relating to their religion are clear to pupils. Mutual Respect and Tolerance are apparent in school not only daily but also when they are highlighted as families join us to celebrate the work done by children as part of religious festivals. - The Ravenscroft community, guided by our legacy of excellence, nurtures individual potential, and prepares students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world. Ravenscroft serves students in Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and is divided into three divisions: Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School, each with individual directors. The enrollment of the School is approximately 1,190 students. Through our Strategic Plan implementation, Ravenscroft will build upon its status as the premier comprehensive, independent college preparatory school in our community and will become a preeminent academic institution in the Southeast. The critical elements of our vision include a commitment to the following: Provide a rich and appropriately challenging curriculum taught with passion by a nurturing and knowledgeable faculty. Enhance our contribution to become a more valued member of our community and increase our diversity to reflect our area better. Promote a working and learning environment that expects and celebrates mutual respect, personal responsibility, ethical leadership, and a sense of humor. Inspire our School community to value the educational journey as much as the outcome. Our values ground our School, programs, and initiatives in the Ravenscroft community's most critical aspects - people and their collective growth. They reflect our legacy of excellence with an inspired commitment to the future. A student's mind is engaged by a developmentally appropriate and balanced college preparatory program emphasizing inquiry, critical thinking, and a love of learning. A student's character is enhanced, and horizons are broadened through leadership, extracurricular, community service, and global study/travel opportunities. A student's talents are cultivated, and a comprehensive program of Fine Arts enriches the creative mind. A student's fitness and physical wellness are promoted through a complete physical education and interscholastic athletic program emphasizing lifelong health, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. A student's faith is developed as we embrace the Judeo-Christian tradition of Ravenscroft and respect each individual's religious beliefs. As a community, we will model and teach values such as honor, respect, responsibility, and compassion. Our global education and experiences are woven into all three of our divisions and include academic studies, cultural immersion, language proficiency, research opportunities, and service-learning. Starting in PreK and throughout the entire educational journey, students are exposed to the language and cultural development. From speaking fluent Mandarin to serving schools-in-need in Zambia or Costa Rica, Ravenscroft's global programming provides students with culture, curriculum, special events, and global experience opportunities spanning many boundaries. "Our Global Initiatives are a springboard providing students with culture, curriculum, and global experience opportunities which challenge, expand, and shape their views on shared academic, cultural and civic values spanning international boundaries." A Ravenscroft education has these values at its core. Lead From Here is a one-of-a-kind educational framework that has transformed our school culture and curriculum to imbue our students with these values, teach them leadership skills, and equip them to take their place as citizen leaders in a complex, multicultural world. Lead From Here enhances Ravenscroft's rigorous academic program. It helps develop children who are confident and have high aspirations — they will thrive as students today and change tomorrow's world. Ravenscroft's rigorous academic program helps Ravens thrive as students today and prepares them to be adults tomorrow. We cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills and believe that strong written and verbal communication skills are at the heart of exceptional education and a successful career.
