We are a three-form entry school with up to 30 children in each class. The classes are of mixed ability. There are two Nursery classes (FS1), three Reception classes (FS2), six Key Stage 1 classes (KS1), and twelve Key Stage 2 classes (KS2). We provide an exciting, inclusive environment that promotes excellence in our learning and our teaching. At Ravenor we aim to fulfill every child’s full potential by providing a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which supports pupil’s Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural development (SMSC). Ravenor Primary School’s breakfast and after-school club, available to current pupils of Ravenor Primary School in Reception up to Year Six. There are two Attendance Leagues – one for KS1 (Year 1, Year 2 pupils) and one for KS2 (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 pupils.) The Attendance Leagues run in a similar way to a football league. Points are awarded to each class depending on the percentage attendance figure for the previous week. The points are accumulated and, at the end of each term, the class in each Attendance League with the most number of points are invited to the ‘Ravenor Primary School – Cinema Experience’. Religious education has an important part to play as part of a broad, balanced and coherent curriculum to which all pupils are entitled. This year, at Ravenor Primary, we relaunched this area of the curriculum and invited parents, carers, and friends of Ravenor to celebrate this with us. Religions and beliefs inform our values and are reflected in what we say and how we behave. Religious education also contributes to pupils’ personal development and well-being and community cohesion by promoting mutual respect and tolerance in a diverse society. It offers opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development, deepening the understanding of the significance of religion in the lives of others – individually, communally, and cross-culturally. Exploring the concepts of religion or belief and their roles in the spiritual, moral, and cultural lives of people in a diverse society helps individuals develop moral awareness and social understanding. As part of the re-launch of RE, we have looked at the make-up of our school community to ensure that our curriculum reflects the religions and/or beliefs of our families. Our curriculum now caters to our children who have a particular religion as well as celebrating families who may not follow a religion but who have other values and beliefs which are important to them. We feel that it is important for our children to learn about these values and what is important to people and to celebrate what is special to all of our families. We have therefore renamed RE and it is now called ‘Religion and Belief’. View full school
