- Raglan Church in Wales VC Primary School is a brand new, 21st Century School built for integrated learning experiences that support every child to develop their skills at their stage of development, based on large, plaza learning environments. It is an exciting place to work and to learn for us all. Our new school was blessed and dedicated by Bishop Richard, Bishop of Monmouth on Friday 4th September as a Church in Wales Primary School, and was officially opened on 22nd October 2015 by Bishop Richard Pain Brian Strong, Chairman of Monmouthshire County Council Peter Fox, Leader of the Council Cllr Liz Hacket-Pain and Dr. Cheryl Morgan, who was our Chair of Governors until September 2016 and led us through the build of our new school. Our school serves a wide rural catchment area with families joining us from within the school's catchment and also from Monmouth and Abergavenny where there has been space in the cohort. We have a capacity for 210 children but currently have 212 children on roll, and more than half of our children travel on school transport each day from rural locations within our catchment area. The Ethos of Raglan CiW V.C. Primary School is not a subject that can be found on the school timetable but is a thread woven into the intricate pattern of the whole school day, throughout the whole curriculum. All life experiences are incorporated into a Christian ethos and it is an integral part of the spiritual and moral growth of the children and adults that they can work together within a loving safe family. Every child is encouraged to develop attitudes of openness and inquiry that will engage them in a search for truth. The school provides a caring, but well-disciplined learning environment where the emphasis is placed on the understanding, and respect, of each individual and where an understanding of values is explored. Each adult exercises a respectful approach to the children and other members of staff and the children show similar respect to one another and the staff. Within the school, there is a happy and warm atmosphere where children feel safe to expand and explore their learning. - Raglan is a two-form entry co-educational foundation primary with a specialist provision for children with speech and language disorders. We also have a private nursery on site. There are approximately 440 pupils on roll. Raglan is set in an urban setting and is very well equipped with excellent resources. All our staff is committed to ensuring that each child reaches their potential in a happy, exciting, and safe environment. It’s a place where children want to be and want to learn. We have a networked ICT suite and 60 iPads to support cross-curricular work, staging, sound, and lighting for our concerts and productions, a dedicated music studio, a sprung floor gymnasium, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. The children enjoy hosting concerts and whole school events and there is always a very special atmosphere within our community on these occasions. Our active PTA is called Friends of Raglan (FOR) and they work hard to organize social and fundraising events. All funds are fed back into school to benefit your child so please get involved, feel part of the team and support their excellent work! We also enjoy strong links with various aspects of the wider community, working closely with Whitehall Rec, Chatterton Village, local secondary schools, businesses, churches, and senior citizens. We pride ourselves on being an Eco school and our environmental work and reputation are well known in the borough and beyond. We offer an excellent range of instrument tuition. The curriculum does not end as the school day ends. We have opportunities for the children to participate in a range of clubs run by the members of staff and outside providers who volunteer their time generously. Raglan Primary School lies in the center of. It is a popular, oversubscribed school and enjoys a very good reputation in the Borough of Bromley. It is very well led and managed by the headteacher with full support from the leadership team, staff, and governors who share her vision for excellence and enjoyment. They enjoy school because they feel exceptionally safe, are well cared for, and receive a curriculum that is relevant to their daily lives. They are enabled to develop an excellent understanding of healthy lifestyles. Pupils in the specialist speech and language classes make outstanding progress, particularly in speaking, literacy, and numeracy, because they are given excellent opportunities for developing their personal and academic abilities. Parents and carers are generally very pleased with the school and, as one parent commented, ‘My child has loved his time at Raglan he has flourished as a person, socially, emotionally and academically.’ In addition to a strong curriculum and extracurricular activities, Raglan pupils exhibit excellent behavior, they enjoy school as their extremely good attendance demonstrates.
