  1. Pelita International School provides a nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to explore and develop multiple intelligences, creating students who possess not only high IQ but high EQ (emotional intelligence). Interpersonal and intrapersonal IQ or EQ is specifically taught as a subject from Early Years to Key Stage 4. Our teachers plan and conduct classes that capture students’ interest so that learning is fun and experiential for every student as their 8 multiple intelligences are activated. Pelita is engaged in touching young lives and raising them to be talents: an asset to their communities and nations at home and abroad. Being part of Pelita has been exciting - engaging, shaping, and raising young lives to realize their dreams and utmost potential. It has been inspiring to watch them grow. Our team works with deliberation and commitment daily, embracing change to create a rich and memorable school experience for each learner. Our goal is to develop learners who are compassionate, curious, confident, and collaborative. We strive to develop our students to embrace diversity in their communities and experiences. Our ambitions for our students are embedded into a rich curriculum, and an even richer co-curriculum, on an affordable platform. While the academic expectations of building strong foundations for reading, writing, arithmetic, and communication skills are emphasized life skills and character education are equally important. Life skills enable the children to learn to care for themselves, their environment, and other fellow learners. Meanwhile, character education teaches people skills and includes issues like good manners, consideration for others, and being helpful. Therefore, academic and life skills as well as character education direct the learning outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Stage and contribute to holistic child development. Primary education will focus on teaching and learning essential literacy and numeracy skills in active learning settings. Students explore concepts and ideas about themselves and the world around them, developing core values to facilitate physical, mental, and character development. Key Stage 1 comprises Years 1 and 2 while Key Stage 2 covers Years 3-6. Upon completion of primary education in Year 6, students will write the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Exams in English, Mathematics, and Science.
  2. From a visionary beginning in 1993, Sekolah Pelita Harapan schools continue to develop as Indonesia’s leading Christian schools with a focus on academic excellence, personal growth, and spiritual development. Our vision of True Knowledge, Faith in Christ, and Godly Character sets out our goals for the student: That they may come to understand that all truth emanates from God the Creator and Sustainer and is to be found ultimately in the relationship with Jesus Christ his Son and our savior. The result of the acceptance of these truths is the development of Godly character as those made in the image of God. We aim to achieve this goal by focusing on Christ as the preeminent one in God’s plan of redemption in the world’s restoration from its brokenness. We want our students to be people of influence and action in the world, well equipped to engage positively wherever they may serve. We are grounded in an Evangelical, Reformed theology that seeks Truth wherever it may be found and recognizes that all Truth is God’s. Using the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge programs allows us to develop mature, thinking, students who are committed to life-long learning and can utilize inquiry to search out the truth. Sekolah Pelita Harapan is a group of 5 schools in Jakarta, Indonesia which offers Indonesian citizens and expatriates a quality, international standard of education in which English is the language of instruction. Our schools are variously accredited with bodies such as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the International Baccalaureate Organisation and some are Cambridge Examination Centres. Most are also members of the Council of International Schools (CIS). Schools use either the IBO or Cambridge curricula which are employing the world’s best practice pedagogy and curriculum design. SPH schools emphasize internationalism, an Indonesian identity through language and cultural studies as a means of preparing Indonesian citizens for their place in Indonesian society and the world. As a group of Christian schools, we base our approach on a Biblical perspective of the world, and Biblical Studies is a compulsory subject in the curriculum. We aim to equip our students to have a view of the world as created by God and sustained by him. As those made in his image, they are taught to develop the gifts and talents they have been born with and to attain high academic, cultural, sporting, and social skills to become people of influence in the world. Teachers are a mix of expatriates and nationals and are recruited locally and internationally. All teachers must be well qualified and willing to engage in ongoing professional development. Sekolah Pelita Harapan schools offer a mix of the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge programs. In Lippo village and Sentul City, we offer the three IB programs – Primary Years (K-6), Middle Years (7-10), and Diploma (11-12). In Kemang Village and Pluit village, we offer Cambridge to Grade 10 then IBO Diploma at Grades 11-12. In Lippo Cikarang we offer the IB PYP and Diploma programs and then Cambridge in Grades 7-10. This mix is there for various historical reasons but we value both curricular for their focus on inquiry and learning how to learn (IB) and clear learning outcomes (Cambridge). We aim to produce academically strong students, with an international perspective who understand the learning process and are well equipped for life-long learning. Curricular are supplemented with a strong sports and physical education program and a music program with an emphasis on Indonesian instruments and Western classical music. Students also form contemporary bands and choir is a strong element of the program. Mission and service-learning activities are undertaken at every level from Kindergarten upwards to form in students an attitude of service to others and to connect their learning with real-world situations.
  3. The UPH Symbol depicts an open Bible with an eagle, strengthened by its Biblical foundation, ready to soar into the air. A luminous ring encircles both the Bible and the eagle, bearing the words "Universitas Pelita Harapan." The Bible symbolizes the new strength for which God's people are waiting. They depend on God for that strength, much like a soaring eagle depends on thermal drafts' strength. As the eagle awaits the updrafts, so those "who wait on the Lord shall have their strength renewed they shall mount up on wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). Finally, the luminous ring encircling the Bible and the eagle and bearing the words "Universitas Pelita Harapan" symbolizes unity and totality in continuously upholding these spiritual strength symbols. Universitas Pelita Harapan has thus declared itself an institution built on a Christian foundation, committed to producing graduates who are professional and skilled in their respective fields and dedicated to serving God and others.
