Norman Pannell Primary School is an exciting, ambitious school that is determined to achieve the highest standard of educational experiences for every child. We aim to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where children feel safe and secure, enabling them to enjoy their learning every day and strive to reach their full potential. We are fortunate to have a spacious, stimulating school site that offers plenty of scope for extra-curricular activities and a range of opportunities. We believe that the school has a vital role to play in the local community, and we value the relationships between children, staff, parents. These relationships are built on trust and goodwill and are a key ingredient to the school’s inclusive approach. Through our developing curriculum, and with a growing emphasis on children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural awareness (SMSC), we aim to prepare children for the challenges of a rapidly changing, diverse world, developing not only academic intelligence but also the emotional and social skills that will enable them to lead successful, happy lives. Developing personal qualities such as resilience, tolerance, and awareness of local, national, and world events are important aspects of this as we prepare the children for life in 21st century Britain. Everyone has a sense of belonging to the whole school and wider community. Children are happy, healthy, and confident learners. Learning in a safe environment is both enjoyable and challenging. Behaving well and showing respect are expected and valued by everyone in the school community. Children can work hard both independently and with others to achieve. A broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum is inclusive to all learners. Children learn about and appreciate topics relating to their Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Development. Our visions and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. We aim to offer every child a broad and balanced curriculum - suited to their needs - that is vibrant, engaging, and ultimately useful to their future lives. We want to provide academic success coupled with enrichment opportunities that allow each child to explore a range of skills and interests. In addition to core skills such as English and Maths, we promote deep learning within science, the humanities, technology, citizenship, and the arts, developing creative, enquiring minds. Our curriculum offers children the chance to develop healthy bodies and healthy minds. We provide a wide range of high-quality physical education opportunities during and after school, and we have a strong commitment to developing good mental health through activities such as massage and 'Philosophy for Children' (P4C). We want our curriculum to unlock doors, enabling children to feel confident and optimistic about their futures in whatever direction they choose to take. Our curriculum needs to be relevant to the children's local and national context: we want our children to understand their options in life, contribute to society as responsible citizens, and show an understanding of equality and diversity. Our curriculum is designed with the understanding of British Values in mind: Democracy Rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith Through differentiation and effective use of assessment, our curriculum is inclusive and tailored to the needs of the school and within it each class, group, and the individual child. The primary aim of Norman Pannell Primary School is to enable all pupils to take part as fully as possible in every part of school life by developing each child’s self-confidence, recognizing their strengths, and encouraging them to achieve their full potential. Norman Pannell Primary School will take steps to advance equality of opportunity, foster good relations and eliminate discrimination or harassment across all the protected characteristics (age, race, gender reassignment, disability, marriage, and civil partnership, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, gender, sexual orientation) within the school community. The Early Years department at Norman Pannell is made up of 2 classes: Nursery and Reception. We have a great team of adults who work very hard to ensure that children get the very best start to their education - academically, personally, and socially. The large open-plan Early Years space allows the two classes to be taught separately, but with a close, caring relationship between children and staff.
