- Oakham School is a leading fully co-educational boarding and day school for 10–18-year-olds. We are located in the heart of safe rural England, in the historic market town of Oakham, Rutland. Peterborough, where direct trains to London King’s Cross take 45 minutes, is just 25 miles from the School. Oakham’s train station is a 5-minute walk from the school campus and runs direct trains to London Stansted Airport, Birmingham, and Peterborough. The first independent secondary school to go co-educational in 1971, we continue that tradition with an even 50:50 split of girls and boys across each of the year groups. Approximately half of our 1,000 pupils board at the School and half are day students. All our pupils belong to one of the 10 Boarding Houses or 6 Day Houses, so each individual has a place to call ‘home’. The pursuit of academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to offer the highest standards of teaching and learning so that all pupils fulfill their academic potential.
