  1. The University of Arts Targu-Mureş is an accredited higher education state institution, as established by law (Annex no. 1.-1.1.). The University of Arts Targu-Mureş is engaged in education, scientific research, and artistic creation, based on the regulations and established benchmarks of the University Charter, following the national legislation (The Romanian Constitution, National Education Act no.1/2011 and other national laws and regulations in the fields of education and culture) and the principles of the European Higher Education Area. The University of Arts Targu-Mures is currently preparing actors, puppeteers, directors, choreographers, impresarios, playwrights, theatre critics, designers, music teachers in Romanian and Hungarian. The University also holds a theatre and a puppet theatre, which organizes professional artistic performances every season. The mission assumed by the University of Arts Targu-Mures focuses on the following: Organizing graduate studies, master and doctoral training, ensuring the improvement of creators and specialists in theatre arts, music, decorative arts at the best quality requirements of a knowledge-based society and culture Promoting creative activities for teachers and students in theatre arts, musical and dramatic arts, as well as scientific research by the requirements of national and international values Ensuring multicultural, multilingual, and interfaith interference to carry out teaching, learning, creation, and research in Romanian and Hungarian languages, based on equality. Priority objectives pursued by the University of Arts Targu-Mures now and shortly are aimed at: Strengthening the University of Arts Targu-Mureş in the scheme of artistic education in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe, to function as a center for authentic art education, artistic creation, and research of artistic phenomena. Enhancing the quality of the offered artistic and scientific-educational services. To this end, we continue to develop strategies to raise the quality of education, promoting a policy that encourages personal excellence, professional development, attachment, and loyalty to the institution. To the same purpose, we continue to support the arts and scientific research. Through several personnel actions, financing, and logistical supply to the required standards. Expanding university study supply by obtaining licenses for new programs in theatre, visual arts, and music. The University also aims at widening the offers in master studies at the postgraduate level. We would also like to broaden the doctoral studies' scope by creating conditions for increasing professors' right to coordinate a doctoral thesis. In diversifying the areas of fine arts, decorative arts, and design, we wish to establish the Faculty of Visual Arts, Decorative Arts, and Design. University of Arts from Targu-Mureș has gained a well-deserved prestige in Romania and abroad because of a joint effort and also because of assuming and carrying into effect some European and universal principles, among which one can find the respect for the values of humanism, the belief in the equality of chances, the partnership between the teaching staff and students in the entire educational process, promoting multiculturalism, ideas of truth, good and beauty. The focus of our entire academic community is the performance (regarding the didactic activity, the scientific research, and artistic creation) and, in this sense, we are all prepared to overtake those moments of 'testing,' either of financial nature, political nature or any other nature, through the competence and dignity that our teachers, researchers, and students give proof of, but also through transforming the difficulties in challenges. Our University's fundamental paradigm is centralizing our objects (and our mentalities) on generating knowledge, the only appropriate way we can twin tradition with innovatory efforts, freedom of ideas, and progress. Arts, together with pedagogy and media communication, are those grounds upon which an intellectual environment and a ‚chaste' which, paradoxical, opens out to the others, has been built, taking into account that all our achievements are dedicated to the world's senses. To the spectator of today and tomorrow.
  2. The University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș, an emblematic academic sanctuary for this area of" ‹" ‹the country, well-known and recognized abroad, has been operating for more than six decades. Thousands of doctors and pharmacists have been trained here to dedicate themselves to the noblest mission: serving people and saving lives. The profession for which students of this University are trained involves, above all, the cultivation of native qualities, a range of factors and conditions: skills and knowledge based on study and research work, commitment and respect for people, namely humanism, generosity and tolerance, the latter being a sine qua nonpart of our academic society. We are heirs and messengers of distinct cultures that have influenced each other. Their harmonization in a constructive form of multiculturalism can and should induce a synergistic effect and be a significant factor for the progress of the University. The student-physician-professor relationship is the triad that works, interacts, constantly stimulates, and challenges, and is always open to perfection. Docendo discimus – learning by teaching – is the motto I propose to my colleagues and the one I assume on their behalf. We have knowledge and values" ‹" ‹that must be passed down to those around us. A creative transfer of information and professional experience will lead to continuous improvement. To students, this is a firm promise they are the direct beneficiaries of a modern view regarding sustained training and preparation during an undergraduate study by their active involvement in managing the educational process. Our University will become more competitive as the offered courses will preserve both traditions – including the quality of the medical and pharmaceutical teaching, the quality of the training and scientific work – and progress achieved by a continuous upgrade to the European medical labor requirements market. We belong to an academic community with specific dynamics. It motivates us to be part of a significant initiative to face the challenge implied by getting involved in a competitive environment. The reluctance in assuming this position condemns us to stagnation, which leads only to involution. A constructive reaction arises only from our awareness that we belong to an elite. We look towards the future with the hope of building a university for the future! I am sure that by preserving tradition, appreciating diversity, and relying on continuity, we shall be victorious! The quality of all activities and their results represent an important goal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș assumed according to the Charter. The University permanently checks the quality management, efficiency, and improvement of assessment and self-assessment in academic teaching, research, and administrative activity. As a general concept, quality management: Brings together those management activities that establish policies, objectives, and responsibilities regarding quality Implements these activities by planning, evaluation, quality assurance, and improvement. At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș, quality management plans and improves all activities' quality by establishing structures, procedures, and resources that determine assessment and quality assurance. The mission of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș is to generate and transfer knowledge to society through: Training of highly qualified medical specialists Enrichment and dissemination of scientific, cultural, social, and ethical values in the medical and pharmaceutical fields Promoting critical thinking among professionals and the public Scientific and cultural development in the medical and pharmaceutical fields The assertion of national scientific values in the medical field and integration into the European practice Development of consciousness and of the behavior of promoting human freedom and democratic principles.
  3. Founded in 1960 by the Ministry of Education and Culture under the name of "The Pedagogical Institute of Tîrgu-Mureş" and functioning without interruption under different names and higher education structures, the "Petru Maior" University numbers over 40 years of existence. The presence of this institution in Tîrgu-Mureş, together with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University of Theatrical Arts, has provided the old Transylvanian town (historically known under different names: Novum Forum Siculorum, Marosvasarhely), that particular nucleus of spiritual, scientific and cultural life that marks the cultural level of an entire urban community where cultural, ethnical and confessional interrelationships are incredibly complicated and with high spiritual potential. Fully integrated with the Romanian education system's restructuring process, a process taking place in the last ten years, with various directions and goals, our University is building, with some inherent hesitations, its specific institutional personality. In the process, we have always kept an observant eye on the national and international standards that a higher education offer presupposes. Although forty years of existence is relatively little time compared with the centuries of existence of other Romanian and European universities, it is a period that cannot be neglected. We are fully aware that the degree of adaptability to the scientific, didactic, and managerial requirements of a University is in direct connection with the qualities and level of commitment of those involved in academic activities, in a situation where the social-economic life has a character of relative normality and stability at both national and regional level. The four thousand plus students, together with the one hundred full-time academics, wish to enter the third Millenium with the feeling that the institution they belong to will fulfill its well-traced destiny to the benefit of Romanian society whose future largely depends upon the level of instruction and education of each individual as well as upon the level of the institutional culture achieved by universities and other instruction centers that face the responsibility of educating the generations to come, generations that will live in a world whose features are difficult to anticipate.
