Founded in 1904, Mosman Prep (fondly called) is renowned as a specialist preparatory school for boys. As the first Headmaster, 'Tibby' Yarnold said at the time, "I wish to establish a school of a good type where parents can confidently send their boys." Over the succeeding years, the school has provided an outstanding academic, social, and general education focused on boys' needs to prepare them for the future. Our slogan 'Educating for Tomorrow, Today' encapsulates a focus on being forward-looking in readiness for the complexities of the world in which the boys will live. The school is of a size where every boy is known personally. The school has two classes in each year group and nearly 300 students in the fourteen classes. A five day a week Program called Early Entry is available for four-year-olds. The Staff/pupil ratio is very favorable with smaller class sizes and Teacher Assistants in each class in each of the first four years of schooling. This is designed to help personalize education and maximize learning opportunities at a boy's point of need in his academic program. Mosman Prep fosters a comprehensive approach to education that emphasizes thinking, valuing & doing and occurs in a personalized Christian philosophy. This enables our boys to excel in academic and sporting pursuits and a wide range of expressive arts. We have preferred access arrangements with several Great Public Schools and another primary, secondary schools, including The Scots College, The Kings School, and Newington College. External measures of academic success abound. More than half our senior boys traditionally receive High Distinction, Distinction or Credit awards in the NSW University National English, Mathematics, Computing, and Science Competitions.
