One of the first ten National Schools of Character in the country, Montrose, was recently named a National School of Character again - supporting our bold mission of top-notch academics combined with our LifeCompass Character and leadership program. Every aspect of a Montrose experience helps girls to build a life compass, one that orients their minds toward truth (veritas), their hearts toward authentic friendship and noble ambition (Caritas), and their hands toward free and responsible action (Libertas), empowering them to navigate any challenge or opportunity. It is striking how often university professors and CEOs of global industries point to the gap between what they perceive as secondary schools' skills tend to drill most. Young people's internal strengths need to thrive in college and beyond: intellectual and emotional agility, courage, integrity, self-mastery, creativity, and sound judgment. They are lawyers, medical professionals, and educators. Most importantly, they are inspired by a noble purpose and strive to contribute to society at large. The greatness of Heart. At Montrose, girls learn that what this world needs is not merely women who are smart, competent, and savvy but also women of integrity who put Christian principles into practice, who treat all people with dignity and respect.
