Minworth, a school found on the outskirts of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, where learning is alive! On behalf of the entire school community, we warmly welcome you to our website where we aim to give you a flavor of who we are and what we do at Minworth. It is a great pleasure to introduce myself as headteacher of this wonderful school a school steeped in so much history but equally one with such a bright future. We used to pride ourselves on being one of the few remaining small village schools in Birmingham. However, the success we have achieved over the past few years has put paid to that and we have increased significantly in size as a result. So what do we take pride in now? Well, several things. First, and most importantly, we are proud of our children. They enjoy coming to school, they work hard and their behavior is exceptional. They are a credit both to ourselves and their parents. Secondly, we are proud of our achievement. Aside from a blip in 2016, a fate of several schools due to several limiting factors, standards have risen rapidly and we now achieve standards over national averages, a testament to the excellent teaching across the school and the hard-working ethic instilled in our children. Thirdly, we are proud of our creative curriculum. Our children tell us they enjoy coming to school and they enjoy the work they do, particularly the frequent themed days and educational visits! Finally, we are proud of the pastoral care that we provide to all of our pupils, treating them as individuals, tailoring any support to their specific needs, and ensuring that we give them the very best opportunities to succeed. As Ofsted reported in our most recent inspection, 'we are an inclusive school.' At Minworth, we are exceptionally proud of our Minworth Jigsaw, a set of values and principles developed by our staff, children, and parents that underpin our aspirations for all children. All staff make regular reference to them and children are encouraged to achieve them, frequently being rewarded for doing so. We recognize that children need to be educated socially, morally, and spiritually as much as they do academically for them to be successful in modern Britain. Termly, we select children to receive a special award in our 'Jigsaw assembly.' Past winners can be seen below enjoying the tea party that follows the award presentation with their family. At Minworth JI School, our teaching is compliant with the National Curriculum and teachers write and plan topics to enthuse and engage pupils through the 'Prospectus' thematic curriculum. Each year group has a specific theme that integrates and runs through other curriculum areas, which form the basis of termly or half-termly plans. This thematic approach allows our children plenty of opportunities to explore, discover and develop into deep, life-long learners. At Minworth, in addition to their academic learning, we believe children should also be taught to develop socially, morally, culturally, and spiritually. To ensure this happens, our Minworth Jigsaw values are taught, promoted, and celebrated throughout our curriculum. Furthermore, we also promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. View full school
