We aim to provide an inspirational all-round education that combines academic achievement with a wealth of co-curricular opportunities. We are proudly non-selective, offering an all-through education in a nurturing and stimulating environment We aim to provide an environment that sets high expectations, facilitating stretch and challenge, where each child is stimulated to fulfill their potential in preparation for the next stage of their education and future employment. Through an inspiring curriculum, exciting clubs, activities, and trips, excellent academic and pastoral support, and dedicated and caring staff, we provide every one of our pupils with an ‘education for life. Through encouraging active involvement in a wide variety of inclusive co-curricular opportunities pupils are engaged in school life, engendering a spirit of community and co-operation. By working alongside pupils with different languages, perspectives, cultures, and ways of working and learning, an understanding of a globalized future is developed, broadening understanding and preparing pupils for life in global markets. Lincoln Minster School seeks ways to develop pupils and staff with the willingness and skills to work effectively together in all we do, fostering long-lasting connections with local schools, the wider Lincoln community, and United Learning schools to share facilities and to promote good practice. Alongside collaboration, we support individualized 1:1 learning. We engage with our alumni and Friends of LMS to build a vibrant society supporting each other and the School. The highest standards of personal conduct are expected and, by matching what we say with what we do, we engender a spirit of mutual trust and co-operation. Robust systems of communication through the whole community enables us to listen and be responsive to the views of others, developing a sense of openness, honesty, and integrity Our inspiring staff seeks new and different ways to engage with the challenge of educating pupils for the twenty-first century by meeting the needs of the curriculum in all its forms and extending beyond its constraints. Diversity is valued and pupils are encouraged to be curious and independent-minded to give them the skills to move on from school with confidence in their abilities. At LMS we value everyone equally, building self-esteem and self-respect by demonstrating respect and care for people, ideas, and our environment. We recognize the importance of things that enrich life beyond material possessions, which contribute to a sense of wellbeing, fulfillment, and wonder, developing LMS as a rich and socially diverse community. Our Pre-Preparatory School consists of a modern building set within a beautiful walled garden overlooked by Lincoln Cathedral. The Preparatory School, a short walk from Lincoln’s Bailgate, has been extensively redeveloped and was opened in September 2014. Our Senior School site is made up of several buildings, both new and old. The main Prior Building was purpose-built and opened in 2002 by the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey. The sweeping, curved building overlooks the city and boasts fully equipped science labs, art studios, IT suites, and our dedicated Sixth Form Centre. Our latest addition – the Harper Building – is dedicated to music and performance it includes an impressive Recital Hall, music practice rooms, and a fully-equipped drama studio, as well as a Sports Hall. The sight of our pupils in their distinctive blazers and staff in their academic gowns processing to the Galilee Porch at Lincoln Cathedral for our End of Term Services and Prizegiving Ceremonies is a special one a reminder of how important a sense of tradition is in a modern world and a modern school. 2. Here, at The Minster Nursery and Infant School, we never forget that your child is a unique and sentient human being with the unknown potential to achieve amazing things. We are passionate and determined to do all we can to work with you to ensure the brightest future for your child not just for the time that your child is with us, but to help him/her on his/her way to having the best choices at 16, 18 and beyond. We place a high value on relationships to honor one another as though we, each of us, our sons and daughters of the King of kings. We ensure that everyone is valued and celebrated regardless of race, gender, age, disability, religion, or socio-economic background. Underpinning our ethos are four main principles: empathy, unconditional positive regard, honesty, and a non-judgemental approach. The mix of these ingredients means that our children have hope and can believe that bright futures are theirs to claim. These are the perfect conditions for optimum growth and progress. Although we are a big school, we have a ‘small school’ feel. We know that your child is not a stand-alone unit or a walking pack of ‘results data’. Your child belongs to a family unit that is often complex. This is why we have a Family Liaison Officer who is available to work with you through life’s ups and downs to help you provide the best childhood for your child. We have an exciting program of refurbishment in the school so that your child can learn, grow and develop in beautiful and comfortable surroundings. At The Minster Nursery & Infant School we aim to develop every child, intellectually, creatively, physically, emotionally, socially, morally, and spiritually, through the values of the Christian faith: By providing a happy, healthy, safe, and stimulating environment in which learning takes place. As a school, we feel our Christian ethos complements the government’s requirement of ensuring that key British Values are taught. In reflecting the Christian ethos of our school, we create a caring and secure atmosphere, encouraging our children to be unique, creative, independent individuals, open-minded, and respectful of themselves and others in our school. Through initiatives such as Many Cultures One Family, we encourage cohesion by celebrating the children’s different cultural heritages and promoting peace and harmony as we work alongside each other in school and the wider community.
