- Welcome to Millstead Primary School. There are 130 pupils on roll at Millstead School. 113 children have a Statement of Special Educational Need or Education, Health and Social Care Plan due to having severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, or complex autism. 17 children have an assessment place as it has been recognized that they have significant learning difficulties but professionals have not yet been able to establish their level of cognitive functioning to identify the best long-term educational provision. Some of these children may undergo statutory assessment. Some children may return to a mainstream school, a resource provision in a mainstream school, or go on to a specialist school. Pupils are grouped according to the stage of development and follow a curriculum designed to meet their needs. Millstead is recognized as an Outstanding school and we are extremely proud of the achievements of all members of the school community. We strive to provide the very best learning and development opportunities for all and ensure a personalized learning journey for each individual. Millstead provides a holistic environment where we learn, care, and achieve together. We provide a real, exciting, creative, and personalized curriculum that is accessible to all children. We value individuality. We provide opportunities to develop the self-esteem, confidence, and independence of all children. We create a safe, stable, welcoming, and stimulating environment where individuals are happy and have a positive attitude. We build strong and meaningful relationships based on mutual respect and value. We recognize and celebrate all cultural and religious backgrounds. We provide a friendly, warm, welcoming school where families, school staff, and other professionals work together for the benefit of the children. Sensory circuits are physical activities that help to alert, organize and then relax the senses of the pupils so that they are ready to take part in-class activities. Participating in a short sensory-motor circuit is a great way to alert or calm pupils and settle them into the school day. At Millstead School, we run up to 35 lunchtime clubs each week. Each time a child attends a club of their choice they earn Children's University 'credits'. At the end of the year, these credits are totaled up and children graduate. They get to wear a cap and gown family and friends are invited to the special ceremony to help them to celebrate. In 2014 27 children graduated. Since moving to our new building in Everton with all our extra facilities we were able to offer extra clubs to cater for all interests and tastes. That meant that in 2015 101 children graduated.
