The degree completion program is ideal for students who either have credit hours to transfer in from another institution or ultimately pursue their education at Mid-America. Many students at Mid-America begin their studies by pursuing a general education course load (typical to most universities and colleges) while determining the bachelor's program that best suits personal interests and professional goals. MACU also offers several master's programs through the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. Mid-America Christian University believes that any person with academic ability and motivation to learn should not be denied an education because of financial need. Therefore, the University attempts to help students and their families meet the cost of higher education through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, employment opportunities, and other sources of aid. The Student Financial Aid Office administers programs by federal, state, and private agency guidelines and funds provided by the University. Funding may be based on financial need or based on academic, athletic, or another talent merit. Finally, we recognize that a college education is a significant investment of money, indeed, and trust. Mid-America was established initially as South Texas Bible Institute (STBI), Houston, Texas, September 14, 1953, by Dr. Max R. Gaulke. The college utilized the facilities of the First Church of God.
