Meijo University has over 90 years of history that can be traced back to establishing the Nagoya Science and Technology Course in 1926. As one of the largest universities in the Chubu region, Meijo University is a comprehensive learning institution that supports a wide range of academic fields, from the humanities to physical sciences. To foster the next generation's human resources, the university continues to tackle ongoing challenges by further enhancing its campus and creating new faculties. The total number of students (both undergraduate students and graduate students) is 15000, and over 190000 graduates have been serving on the front line in various fields of society. In 2016, we celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Nagoya Science and Technology Course founded in 1926 as the forerunner of Meijo University. On this occasion, we opened "Nagoya Dome-Mae Campus," located in Higashi Ward, Nagoya City, as a new landmark of Meijo University where the 9th Faculty of Foreign Studies was established. Since April 2017, the Faculty of Urban Science and Faculty of Human Studies have been relocated to the "Nagoya Dome-Mae Campus." This campus that holds three faculties is expected to serve as the new center of excellence for supporting a wide range of academic fields, taking a leadership role in "community cooperation" and "globalization." In this way, Meijo University has been striving to establish an adequate educational research infrastructure while keeping a broad outlook on the next generation. Our future society will encounter rapid globalization accelerated by technology development, especially information and communications technology, which may change the economic system, industrial structure, and different cultures. In anticipation of the drastically changing society, we have formulated the medium/long-term plan called "MS-26," which is expected to be attained by the year 2026 as the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Meijo University. Envisaging creation of "Learning Community" for offering all our students various experiences for their enriched lives, we have been working on such operation as "Learning Community Creation Project" for supporting the students in positive learning and problem-solving-type learning practice, and "Enjoy Learning Project" for facilitating the learning activities conducted by student groups. Through our engagement in such activities, we aim at the embodiment of our mission to allow the students to "be positively adaptable to the diversified community," and "be moderate, capable of putting the idea into practice, and deserve trust from the nation and society. The environment surrounding higher education will be growing tougher. In such a hard time, our students, teaching staff, and graduates are expected to cooperate to fulfill the mission of Meijo University as the private university of arts and sciences.
