The idea of establishing the Catholic Higher Education Foundation has started during World War I around 1914-1919. At that time, many graduates of HBS (Hogere Burger School / High School) were unable to continue their higher education in the Netherlands due to the circumstances and barriers to transport to Europe. Then the 1950s became known as the "Catholic College Awakening Era." In 1958, after the establishment of several Catholic universities in Indonesian cities, Mgr. J. Klooster, CM, as Bishop of Surabaya, established Widya Mandala Foundation. Widya Mandala comes from the ancient Javanese language. Commit: Willingness to act under the mandate, demands of the institution, or obligation as a citizen of UKWMS. This attitude is minimal and normative. It is expected that UKWMS citizens have an affective commitment attitude, which as far as possible " beyond the call of duty." Enthusiastic: A very passionate, very interested, and passionate attitude in every task and activity carried or executed no sense of compulsion, even (like) always want to implement it.
