We would like to extend a very warm welcome to you from everyone at Malorees Infant school. We pride ourselves on bringing to life a strong set of values across our two schools, bonded together by a shared vision which underpins everything we do. We are genuinely committed to understanding that every child is an individual, and to providing the environment to enable them to flourish and succeed. Thriving means we are achieving each of the following, Teamwork - we build positive partnerships through strong collaboration and communication between children, staff, families, and the local community. Happiness & Health - we promote well-being through an emphasis on social development, safety, sports, and enjoyment of the outdoors. Individuality - we celebrate our unique identities and take pride in who we are. Every child can excel in their way, following interests and making choices. Vibrant learning - we aim to provide a broad, creative curriculum that includes the enrichment of music and the arts. Inspiration - we want to inspire our children to be inquisitive with an enthusiasm for learning. Nurture - we support the well-being of children and prioritize the building of their confidence and self-esteem. Growth & challenge - we build strong learning attitudes and skills so all can take on the challenge to achieve their very best and be empowered for a complex future world. We encourage the children to understand that for every right they have, to be safe, for example, there is a responsibility that goes with that to make good choices. We represent that in the school through our Promise Tree. We use the pairs of leaves to explore with the children the different rights and their corresponding responsibilities. This comprehensive approach is deeply embedded into everything we do at the two schools meaning every child can become a confident, caring lifelong learner. The Governors of Malorees School Federation have been appointed from a wide range of backgrounds and expertise to ensure that every child at Malorees is provided with the very best education. At Malorees we develop our children’s attitudes and ski learning attitudes so that they grow in confidence and responsibility, and take ownership of their learning. We foster an active, thriving learning community in an atmosphere of friendly cooperation and support. We never stop looking for ways to improve and evolve as a school, to promote high-quality teaching and learning, and to achieve positive outcomes for all our children. In 2014 we introduced GROW in our Infant School to help children talk about how they learn, as well as what they learn. Animal images are used to promote and celebrate good learning attitudes. We have matching stickers which are awarded in class and in ‘Personal Best’ Assemblies where children identify for themselves which attitude they needed to achieve their best. Recognizing that every child is unique underpins our approach to teaching and learning, our approach to pastoral care and personal development. We aspire to be sensitive to the needs of every child, reducing barriers to learning and making the curriculum as accessible as possible. We are fortunate to be able to offer outdoor learning in a magical space - the largest wildlife area any school has in Brent. The Orchard land is around 100 meters long and 25 meters wide and has never been built on. This means it is a fantastic place for our children to explore nature and supplement classroom learning. The ‘Malorees Orchard’ is designated as a local site of nature conservation importance. It has dozens of trees, with pride of place going to an enormous 200-year-old Mulberry tree. It has many plants, a pond, and attracts butterflies, bees, birds, and has been home to badgers and foxes. Our Infant School offers several opportunities to enjoy the Orchard. We have also made it available to other local schools on occasion and welcome their use of it. (Manor School, Carlton Vale). Our children visit the Orchard through the school year during class time, around once every three weeks. During these sessions, children work on activities related to their context learning in class eg. learning about plants, seasons, animals, geography, art. Or sometimes they may use the Orchard as an outdoor learning space for activities such as team working, treasure hunts, picnics, even campfire building. At Malorees Infant School pupils' achievement in all areas is celebrated, whether that achievement is improvement in their behavior or learning attitudes, in sports, arts or core reading, writing or mathematical skills.
