Welcome to Lockers Park, A Private Pre-Prep and Prep School in Hertfordshire. Lockers Park blends forward-thinking and kinaesthetic learning within a traditional prep school environment. Whether your child is a bookworm, a sportsman, a budding scientist, or an all-rounder, our approach centers around each child, allowing them to gain confidence and flourish. The curriculum includes structured sport every day, which not only promotes sporting excellence but also leads to increased concentration and academic success. This approach is the same today as that instituted by the School’s first Headmaster 145 years ago. For us, social and emotional development goes hand-in-hand with academic progression, enabling pupils to become independent thinkers and develop moral principles. Mutual respect, high personal standards, honesty, and tolerance form the foundation of all our teaching, ably summarized by our school motto – Bene Agere ac Laetari – good results, good manners, good fun. Lockers Park boys leave as well-rounded individuals, self-motivated and ready for the excitement and challenges of senior school life. Our excellent academic record sees many pupils move on to the country’s leading public and independent senior schools including Bedford School, Berkhamsted School, Eton College, Harrow School, and St Albans School –see Destination Schools. We have an open and inclusive community where pupils are encouraged to value and be supportive of each other. Our recent ISI Inspection highlighted the cooperative and caring ethos at Lockers Park. Indeed, there is tangible energy and warmth within our community, much commented upon by current parents and visitors. Lockers Park has been educating boys to the highest standard for over 140 years offering pupils a first-class education that is both balanced and happy. The school holds an exemplary record of winning awards and scholarships to leading senior schools such as Bedford, Eton, Harrow, Haileybury, and Radley to name but a few. Sitting within 23 acres of beautiful woodland, Lockers Park is ideally situated in the heart of Hertfordshire with easy access to both London and several key airports. At Lockers Park we are committed to developing each boy as a whole, seeking to build independence and resilience alongside self-confidence and self-esteem. We understand that ‘sit still and listen’ does not always ensure good results when it comes to schooling boys. Our staff have a progressive, supportive attitude and employ a practical approach to ensure that the boys are highly engaged in the classroom and achieve the very best academic results. Small class sizes (a maximum of 16) and a creative curriculum partnered with a strong focus on outdoor play and structured sport every day ensure the children are happy, energetic, and well-motivated. In 2015, we expanded our Early Years and Key Stage 1 provision with the launch of a purpose-designed co-educational Pre-Preparatory for boys and girls aged 4 to 7. This modern, light space sitting to the side of the main Prep School blends the more structured environment of the classroom with the freedom to learn around Lockers Park’s beautiful green setting. Children at the Pre-Prep can take advantage of the school’s full range of facilities including sports, science, music, and drama.
