Kempten University of Applied Sciences is a cosmopolitan university in Allgäu, southern Germany, which offers applied, interdisciplinary, international, and pioneering higher education courses. We strive to offer a diverse and in-depth range of degree programs in science, engineering, the social and health sector, and to be a place where students take joy in their studies and academic and other staff take joy in their work. Kempten University of Applied Sciences understands the need for communication after university and invests in maintaining close links to its graduates. Kempten University of Applied Sciences is the highest-altitude higher education institution in Bavaria. It works with the German HE sports association (Allgemeiner Deutschen Hochschulsportverband) and the German ski association (Deutscher Skiverband) to help successful winter sports athletes gain academic qualifications pursuing a sporting career. We are committed to cooperation and partnership at all levels of our organization under Bavarian state institutions' management guidelines. Our actions are governed by commitment, responsibility, efficiency, constructive dialogue, and a focus on service within the framework of legal and economic requirements. We strive to drive forward our university's development, both internally and externally. Kempten University of Applied Sciences is led by an executive committee consisting of the president, three vice-presidents, and the director of finance and administration. The primary role of the Governing Board is the development and management of the university. The president represents Kempten University of Applied Sciences in external affairs. As chair of the Governing Board, he or she proposes initiatives for further discussion and is responsible for developing the basic outlines of University policy objectives. He or she implements the central deliberative bodies' decisions and fulfill the duties defined in the Bavarian higher education institution act (Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz). He or she reports to the Senate and the University Council on the funding and human resources allocation policy. Presidents serve for ten semesters. The Kempten University of Applied Science is the only state higher education establishment in Allgäu. It trains students in engineering, business administration, tourism management, computer science and multimedia, and social and health studies. Since its establishment in 1977, this university at the Alps' edge has experienced steady and continuous growth. Each year, over 6,000 candidates apply for a place in Kempten, and this figure is growing. Some 6.000 students are currently enrolled in our 18 Bachelor's and 13 Master's degree courses. One hundred forty full-time professors give the majority of the lectures, supported by some 200 assistant lecturers.
