  1. We are an established Roman Catholic independent school and nursery for boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 11, and part of the worldwide network of Ursuline schools. At The Ursuline Prep School, we aim to give each child the best possible start in life. As well as having extremely rigorous academic standards along with high expectations of behavior, we provide pastoral support appropriate to the needs of each unique child in our care. We are a small school that provides a friendly, secure, happy, and stimulating environment and are extremely proud of every one of our pupils. Our school motto is ‘Serviam’ I will serve. We believe that providing opportunities to develop one’s unique talents and realize one’s potential to the fullest, are necessary to enable this ethos of service for others. We provide a friendly, secure, happy, and stimulating environment to facilitate this. We are proud of every one of our pupils. Working closely with parents benefits our children at each stage of their learning. We also arrange a visiting guest speaker series for parents on a range of educational topics. Our aims and Values: To provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all children, parents, staff, and visitors to the school. To offer to all children and staff the experience of working in a Christian community that finds its inspiration in Christ and His gospel, whilst recognizing and respecting the freedom of individuals to worship God according to the practices of their religion. To encourage children to become independent learners by building on their curiosity and desire to learn and so develop their skills, concepts, and understanding. To provide a broad, balanced curriculum that promotes the full academic, personal, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of the individual child. To recognize each child’s unique value and giftedness and enable him or her to develop a positive self-image. To instill a sense of personal responsibility, self-discipline, respect, and care for one another and the environment. To enable children to use, learn from, and build on existing knowledge and experience. To establish close links between home and school which will benefit the all-round development of the child. Our curriculum is predominately organized on a single subject basis within which there may be some topic-based work links, and cross-curricular links are sought and encouraged where appropriate. The predominant mode of working is whole-class teaching although individual and group work is used where appropriate.
  2. The Ursuline Academy Ilford is a four-form entry Catholic comprehensive school for girls aged 11-19. Students who come here join a community that is committed to success. The school was founded by the Ursuline Order in 1903 and has been providing high-quality education and pastoral care ever since. The school has a strong sense of community underpinned by Gospel values. Visitors regularly remark on the purposeful working atmosphere in which all are expected to do their best. We have an inclusive and community-focused ethos of which we are very proud. Our pupils are welcoming, engaging, and articulate. They are ambitious for the school and their own life beyond it. Each year the school reserves 90 places for students from practicing Catholic families and 30 for students from other faith backgrounds who are supportive of and fully committed to the Catholic ethos of the school. Each form class is of mixed ability and contains a mixture of students from Catholic and non-Catholic backgrounds. We are a Catholic community of faith, love, and service rooted in the spirit of St Angela. Through Christ and the Gospel and in our diverse community we strive to provide an environment for young women to flourish, spiritually, academically, and socially. Together we are The Ursuline Academy Ilford. To help bring this about Governors and staff at the school commit themselves to: Recognizing the value and uniqueness of every student we teach Ensuring that the school is a safe place to be and one where the interests of justice are served Creating an inclusive community, one whose basis is mutual respect and equality Maintaining the long tradition of trust, cooperation, and courtesy Generating good order and discipline based on sound relationships between staff, students, parents, and carers Nurturing the religious and intellectual lives of our students through curricular and extracurricular activities Inviting parents and carers to play an active role in their daughter’s development, academically, spiritually, and morally. The Ursuline Academy Ilford has a small all-girls sixth form with a long tradition of success. We are a Catholic school but welcome students of all faiths and enjoy a vibrant and diverse school community. We believe that with hard work and tailored support, all students can achieve their full potential. With around 100 students being admitted into year 12 each year, we feel that we get to know our students very quickly and can offer them the support they need to reach their full potential. The help, support, and guidance on offer extends beyond the classroom and includes extra-curricular programs and opportunities to help students develop and reach their goals. We are very proud of all our students and have an excellent record of sending our girls to their first choice of university. The Ursuline Academy Ilford provides a learning environment that is challenging and supportive. The curriculum is designed to offer both breadth and depth. It enables the girls to leave the academy fully equipped for further study, work, or a combination of both.
  3. Founded in 1957, Little Ilford School is a successful mixed multicultural 11-16 secondary school with 9 forms of entry situated in the London Borough of Newham. We are a proud, diverse, and celebratory institution that enjoys an excellent reputation and strives to be an outward-facing school working closely with our community. We are culturally rich with an ethos based around praise, support, and caring for each other. We have very high aspirations for the students whatever their personal or social challenges we systematically remove all barriers to learning to ensure that all of our students can fulfill their potential and leave us as fully active citizens of the Manor Park community. We intend to ensure that our students achieve even higher rates of progress and outcomes through high-quality learning and teaching and a curriculum that provides opportunities for all students to excel. Our mission is to help students to gain key skills to meet the demands of the 21st century, through Reviewing their progress and dealing positively with praise, setbacks, and criticism, Analysing and evaluating information, and judging its relevance and value, Connecting their own and others' ideas and experiences in inventive and original ways. Our students will develop qualities to enable them to be self-aware and emotionally intelligent, through working towards goals (including long-term goals) and showing initiative, commitment and perseverance, Managing their emotions, and building and maintaining relationships, Taking responsibility, and showing confidence in themselves and their contribution to the school. The organization of students’ learning will be evaluated and transformed to ensure that Students have opportunities to generate ideas and explore possibilities in inventive, enterprising, or entrepreneurial ways. Students explicitly learn essential transferable skills, which they apply across all subjects. At Little Ilford School we take pride in our levels of experienced and highly trained staff. This ensures the quality of learning in the school is of a high standard and promotes effective learning. We enable all students, whatever their ability or background, to make the best possible progress in acquiring knowledge, understanding, and essential skills, undertaken in partnership with our teachers. We offer the chance to experience achievement and ensure that students develop attitudes to learning which prepare them for the opportunities and responsibilities of the 21st-century world. Lessons are planned for ensuring pupil progress and care is taken to stretch and challenge all students in a supportive environment. Students are regularly assessed and feedback is a regular feature of all lessons. We encourage independent learning and help students to be clear about the next steps they need to take to fulfill their potential. Teaching strategies are varied to stimulate interest and progress and lead to high academic outcomes. Strategies include group work, questioning, hot seating, pair work, oral rehearsal before writing, individual extended tasks, tests, and assessment. All teachers encourage students to take risks in their learning: it is only when students venture out of their comfort zone that progress can be made. The staff creates safe and inclusive learning environments for risks to be taken. Regular training of all staff is undertaken and we have created an ethos in the school where teachers are the lead learners. At LIS we believe that greater involvement and greater partnership between the school and parents leads to further success for our students. At the same time, FLIS provides a forum for parents to express their views, contribute to school initiatives, and plan workshops to support and develop parenting skills. FLIS also develops community links and provides opportunities for the community to socialize and learn together.
