Staff is excited by the curiosity and thirst for learning that each child, regardless of their ability, naturally displays. They work hard to allow each child to ask why, to query, and to have the time to develop their thoughts into fresh discoveries and innovations and, in doing so, overcome the challenges faced. The result is the celebration of learning – a reward in its own right! The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children can be achieved. The Holmewood School, London, is a warm and friendly school for students with high-functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other language, communication, and social pragmatic difficulties. The Holmewood School London, is a school for 7-19-year-olds with high-functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other language, communication, and social difficulties. Our philosophy is founded on a desire to make a difference and to challenge the way all members of our community think about autism. At The Holmewood School, we ensure our young people get every opportunity to achieve their full potential in life, irrespective of any difficulties. This commitment is an intrinsic part of our philosophy. It is at the heart of everything we work towards. We aim to enable every young person to flourish by encouraging and building upon their unique strengths and interests. Students are supported to develop and deploy strategies that overcome and cope with their difficulties. We recognize that every student is different, and the individual hopes, dreams, and ambitions of each young person are our starting point. In addition to academic achievement, the focus at The Holmewood School is on developing the social, emotional, and personal skills of each student. We are registered for up to 50 students with our Outstanding Sixth Form provision occupying its premises in Finchley Central. The vast majority of our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which allows families to seek financial funding from their Local Authority. However, a statutory statement is not a requirement for admissions. Applications can be supported by independent assessment reports relevant to the individual.
