At LEH we are fortunate to have incredibly supportive parents, friendly and dedicated staff, and children who quite simply love their school! Pastoral care underpins all that we do at LEH Junior School and we strongly believe that a child who feels valued, safe and happy will reach her full potential. Our school is a busy and purposeful place and the girls ‘can-do attitude and intellectual curiosity are infectious. We offer a rich and diverse curriculum that is full of exciting opportunities to try new things, learn new skills and develop their talents. Academic standards are high, and girls generally work in advance of their chronological age and standard year group. We are proud of the fact that when our Year 6 girls move up to our Senior School, they take with them a set of skills and core values that will enable them to confidently and courageously embark on the next stage of their educational journey. Lady Eleanor Holles (LEH) is a remarkable school. It is a school where girls successfully combine impressive intellectual endeavor with enthusiastic engagement well beyond academia. The girls’ public exam results and their sporting achievements are among the best in the country. Their musical and dramatic activities place them among the best of young performers. And most importantly of all, their stimulating and happy approach to all they do makes LEH a joy for me to lead. There is so much more to LEH life than academic achievement: if young women left here with excellent exam results alone, we would be disappointed. Our goal is that LEH girls become expert learners, unafraid to tackle new and challenging ideas, prepared to take risks, and able to learn from failure. That's why we encourage our girls to experiment and express opinions why we give them the freedom to be exactly who they are, supported by strong role models and inspired by their peers. In doing so, they build the skills they need to succeed throughout their lives. They stretch themselves to become their best most confident selves - as students, and as citizens of the world. Pupils at LEH often comment that the two years they spend in the Sixth Form is a time of almost unparalleled excitement and diversity. The study of four subjects in the Lower Sixth forms the bedrock of the girl's academic experience. Also, pupils benefit from a staggering range of other challenges, trips, and opportunities, each of them deepening and enriching their personality and their outlook on the wider world. The girls are independent thinkers, many of whom develop a high level of knowledge and expertise in areas of personal interest through completion of the Extended Project Qualification. As well as academic lessons, girls learn by taking part in activities such as sport, music, drama, Young Enterprise, Combined Cadet Forces. Mentoring younger pupils will deepen and enrich your outlook on the wider world. Girls develop leadership skills by taking on roles within our House system and on committees, such as Model United Nations. These experiences stay with girls for the rest of their lives. LEH girls leave for university well-rounded, grounded, and intellectually curious, and go on to thrive in a range of academic settings and equally retain a key concern for their role both within and beyond the school community. They know how to realize their full potential, contribute to their communities and retain a sense of fun, purpose, and direction in everything they do. The Sixth Form environment which exists at LEH is certainly a remarkably diverse, stimulating, and enjoyable one. The school aims to help every child achieve her full potential, and so is keen to identify any special educational needs as soon as possible in a pupil's school career. There is a screening program for all new entrants to the school and follow-up help in terms of learning support and further assessment is offered, if necessary, by the school's Learning Support Consultant. Most needs at LEH relate to mild cases of dyslexia and dyspraxia. Every effort is made to ensure that all pupils are adequately supported in all areas of school life. There are some girls in the school for whom English is not the first language, i.e. the language spoken at home. Help may be given in school or, if considered necessary, outside tuition to improve language levels may be suggested to parents. If parents have any concerns, they should contact the SEN coordinator for Junior School matters and the Head of Learning Support for Senior School matters via the School Reception. In the case of a prospective pupil with a statement, the school would positively approach their needs, and seek to make all reasonable adjustments. View full school
