Hendon Prep is a local co-educational school for boys and girls from 2-13 years situated in the suburbs of North London. We strongly believe that children should be enriched by their educational experiences and ultimately challenged to fulfill their unique potential. We want our children to learn and develop in a nurturing and stimulating school environment, where academic excellence and personal well-being are valued equally. We aim to have a deeper knowledge of the needs of every child and we want our pupils to have an exciting and vibrant curriculum so that they can strive to achieve their very best. Our aim at Hendon Prep is to create an environment in which pupils feel safe, happy, secure, and valued. Our pastoral care intends to prevent problems, both personal and academic, from arising. The close links which we have with our parents are essential to achieving these aims. At Hendon Prep our ethos is to encourage values of respect and tolerance for one another. We celebrate our individuality and our cultural and religious diversity. We promote honesty and integrity and we want all our children to flourish and become valued members of our community. Through School and House assemblies, Tutor and Circle Time, and our well-being lessons we engage our pupils to think about their beliefs and the values of British Society. We value the uniqueness of every child and we believe that children should be encouraged to grow in confidence and develop skills that will enable them to offer service to others. We encourage charitable giving and we want our children to develop a habit of being socially minded. We believe that they will become leaders of the future and ultimately lead lives of significance. Every child has a form tutor who looks after their welfare and is the first point of contact with parents. Pastoral care is further enhanced at Hendon Prep by our school house system. From Reception, through to Senior School, pupils are placed in one of four houses, this helps every child to feel valued and part of a tight-knit community. The house system also gives children opportunities to be rewarded for positive behavior as well as for effort and attainment. Our academic curriculum challenges pupils to search for knowledge and develop a growing awareness of their capability to think both creatively and critically. Beyond the classroom, we aim to offer enriching opportunities so children can discover more about themselves and learn new skills that will help develop their character. We value our academic reputation for preparing girls and boys for selective senior schools, both independent and grammar, at 11+ and 13+, but of equal importance, we want to select pupils who would benefit from the educational opportunities that will enable them to be confident members of our community and the wider global community in time. Hendon Prep School occupies a deceptively large site in North London and has bright, well-resourced classrooms. Complete with an ICT suite, dedicated art and DT studio, music room, library, central hall, and a newly refurbished and fully equipped science laboratory the school provides a fantastic range of facilities to enhance the pupil's experience and learning. Hendon Prep School has a large, recently developed, playground and outside classrooms give pupils much-needed space to let off steam. With a planting area, amphitheater, astroturf football pitch, netball pitch, and giant chess board playtimes are always fun at Hendon Prep Besides using the playground for sports and PE lessons, the school also makes weekly use of amazing local sporting facilities such as Poolside Manor Swimming Pool, Hendon Youth Centre Gym and the Wilf Slack Sports Grounds.
