Heatherton Christian College is an independent Christian co-educational school for students from Prep to Year 12. The College is located in Melbourne's south-east suburbs, about a 30-minute drive from the Melbourne CBD. Heatherton Christian College is a member school of Christian Schools Australia. The vision of Heatherton Christian College is" Growing in Christ, Striving for Excellence, Influencing the World." This vision statement underpins everything that we do at Heatherton Christian College. Heatherton Christian College has an emphasis on students learning about, and experiencing first hand, the importance of serving others. For many years now, Heatherton Christian College has provided opportunities for senior secondary students to serve on mission trips. We offer our Year 10-12 students the opportunity to attend three different mission trips. It is hoped that a mission experience will bring long term blessing to the students and to those they serve in the process. At HCC, our teaching philosophy is based on Jesus' answer to the Pharisees in Mark. Jesus answered him, "The first of all, the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." We believe in emotional (heart), spiritual (soul), academic (mind), physical (strength) as well as social (neighbor) development in order to fulfill our purpose of life on Earth. These five areas encompass what it means to be a successful human, doing what is essential according to God's will and impacting our community, our nation, and the world for Jesus Christ. We, therefore, believe that it is imperative to develop the child as a whole. We know that God has a specific plan for every child that walks into our school and that we must plant the seed for Him to water. Each child is uniquely created and gifted by God. At HCC, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, as well as the support that will allow them to fulfill their God-given potential. We aim to partner with parents to ensure that our children can reach this potential by providing a safe and secure environment to explore, take chances, and thrive. We strive to make our College a place where every child feels safe and can develop the skills needed to thrive in social skills like resilience, empathy, creativity, and problem-solving, to name but a few. It is an honor and a privilege for us to partner with you and your child. The joy of guiding them in their learning and the shared delight when they achieve something new is a unique and precious moment. Parents have been given the ultimate responsibility to educate their children towards a biblical way of knowing and a Christian way of living.
