      1. Wardlaw + Hartridge today is a school with an honored past that looks forward to a vital future. We are a private, preparatory school offering an enriching experience for students grades PreK-12. In some ways, we are not a typical independent school. From our school in Edison, New Jersey - we fly the flags of literally dozens of nations representing the recent ancestry of our diverse elementary, middle and high school student body. The student art that enlivens all of our hallways is rich with these multiple influences and traditions. We are committed to integrating technology, world languages, and the arts into our liberal arts curriculum, beginning with our youngest students. Our teachers routinely ask our students to pull ideas from multiple disciplines and express them clearly in writing and public speech. At the center of the school, the experience is vital energy, the spark of connections between students and teachers as they explore the thinkers of the past and present, as they puzzle out how to express themselves on paper, on canvas or the stage, and as they work together to form teams that call forth the best that each individual has to offer. Whether you are a prospective student or a graduate, you will find a place that will excite your imagination. If you are a parent, you will find a school that welcomes a strong partnership with you. In some ways, though, the school is the same as it ever was. The best reason for attending Wardlaw + Hartridge is still for the quality of relationships you build with teachers and peers. Our students are deeply engaged with their learning, guided by dedicated and artful teachers. While they are acquiring skills demanded by universities, they are also learning profound lessons about themselves and how they wish to conduct themselves in the world. The Wardlaw + Hartridge School prepares students to lead and succeed in a world of global interconnection. We provide an educational atmosphere characterized by academic challenge, support for individual excellence, diversity, and a familial sense of community. Wardlaw + Hartridge develops academic and intellectual excellence in its students through programs that stretch their creative imaginations, develop their athletic and artistic skills, engage their sense of discovery, and develop a social conscience. In the process, students take on leadership roles and learn how to work effectively in teams. Every member of the Wardlaw + Hartridge faculty believes in a personal approach to educating and developing the whole child. Wardlaw + Hartridge educators take the time, care, and interest in each student to call forth their best work. The diversity of thought, background, and culture at Wardlaw-Hartridge distinguishes us among independent schools, strengthens the global orientation of our curriculum, and enriches the daily experience of every member of the school community, inside and outside the classroom. When faculty members, students, parents, or graduates walk through the doors of Wardlaw + Hartridge, they have entered a home. Our community is distinguished by an ethos of care and mutual respect and a strong partnership with families.
