      1. Battle Ground Academy is a unique environment: a school that provides a state-of-the-art, 21st Century traditions that only 125 years of independent school education can bring. Character, Scholarship, and Excellence comprise a framework for our educational approach. Whether through the Honor Code that holds our students to a high standard of personal integrity or the engaging challenges students meet in the classroom, the art studio, or the athletic field, these three characteristics have distinguished a BGA education and BGA graduates the school's inception. Ultimately, we want to help students become the very best version of themselves that they can become. These are exciting times to be a Wildcat as we honor our past and look forward to a bright and prosperous future. Our highest aspiration is to nurture students' intellectual, creative, physical, and moral growth while challenging them to explore their potentials. Every BGA graduate is unique but carries an indelible experience that equips him or her for college success and living with integrity, courage, and compassion. Battle Ground Academy believes that to fulfill its mission, To ignite and nurture student curiosity, intellect, and character, includes preparing students for the diverse world in which they will work and live. The BGA community recognizes and values the importance of all forms of diversity in enriching the educational, social, and life experiences of all its constituencies, board, administration, faculty, staff, parents, and students. Our commitment to diversity is an ongoing process that strengthens and enhances our school. We honor this commitment through the admission process, hiring practices, professional development, and curriculum. It is our goal to foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of our commonalities and our differences. We strive to cultivate in students the skills, attitudes, and empathy that will be essential for them to be leaders and citizens of a diverse world. At Battle Ground Academy, we are a school that values questions more than answers. Our teachers strive to engage each student in the learning process and annually review the curriculum to ensure that students succeed in the classroom, college, and life. We are a progressive school committed to providing a global perspective in all divisions. Our challenging curriculum is centered on inquiry-based learning and motivates students to think, and problem solve. It is our desire for each student to develop a real passion and enthusiasm for the learning process. Our comprehensive and bespoke college guidance program aims to provide opportunities for collaboration, research, and self-reflection. We believe that students who have made intentional and informed decisions regarding their college destination will ultimately be the most successful after leaving BGA. Students engage from the start. Programmatic support encourages developmentally appropriate decision-making at every stage of the college process. Through participation in interactive sessions and guided activities, first-year students and sophomores build the foundation upon which to advance their aspirations and goals. Supported by compassionate and experienced college counselors, juniors, and seniors, then launch strategic college searches tailored to their individual needs. Our goal at BGA is to provide an inspiring and nurturing environment to further each student's academic and character development. We seek to enroll students who demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual attributes that will set them up for success and allow them to thrive at BGA and in the communities in which they live. We also look for unique interests and personalities that will add to our school community's collective character.
