- Our ambition is to provide the best possible primary education in stimulating and creative environments. We want to develop a passion for learning, inspired by high-quality teaching, developing and building upon individual strengths and talents. We expect all children in our schools to reach age-related levels, in line with national expectations, as a minimum, and we aim to ensure that the barriers to learning are removed so that every pupil in all of our schools reaches their full potential. Our leadership structure aims to make the most of our shared resources, maintain high expectations, and secure high standards. The strategic overview of the partnership is led by myself, and each school is led by a highly effective Senior Leadership Team, who have the skills and experience required to motivate, inspire and drive our schools forward. We value the opportunity to introduce you to Grazebrook. We are confident that you will find a school where standards of behavior and respect are given a high priority, and where every child is motivated to learn and to have high self-esteem. Many of our children join Grazebrook in the Nursery, aged three. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school but children meeting the Local Authority’s entry requirements will move on to Reception where they will be joined by children new to the school. You are very welcome to visit us before enrolling your child. Please contact Lisa Langley via the school office to arrange an appointment when a member of the senior leadership team will be available to show you around. Pupils who are 3 years old can make an application to the Nursery in our school. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school but children meeting the Local Authority’s entry requirements will move on to the reception where they will be joined by children new to the school. Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools to boost the attainment of pupils from low-income families. It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help children reach their full potential. Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of the PE and sports activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money. To find out more about how we spend our allocation and how it has made a difference to the PE and sport participation and attainment of pupils. Our approach to the curriculum is to provide the highest quality provision, utilizing the skills of all our staff, to inspire all our pupils to achieve their full potential. This is achieved through the choice of resources, including the use of iPads, equipment in mathematics, and a wide range of texts in English. Our positive and stimulating learning environments develop curious, confident learners and as a result, provide excellent opportunities for all pupils to achieve high standards. There are strong links between the core and non-core subjects because of our close assessment of the skills that each academic discipline requires. New Wave Federation is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our children, staff, and visitors, whilst promoting a climate where children and adults will feel confident about sharing any concerns which they may have about their safety or the well-being of others. We aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by protecting them from maltreatment preventing impairment of children’s health or development ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes. Our Policy sets out how the Federation’s Governing Body discharges its statutory responsibilities relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are pupils at our schools. Our Foundation Stage provides a secure, happy and caring environment in which children learn through purposeful and carefully planned play. The early years of a child’s life are an important stage where the foundations for future development are established. In the Foundation Stage, we foster the child’s interests, needs, and stages of development and offer activities that extend, enrich and develop potential both inside and outside the classroom. Purposefully planned, playful activities and first-hand experiences are the keys to learning, laying the foundations for the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. There will be a mixture and an appropriate balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities, depending on the children’s age and stage of development. The Framework is based on four guiding principles which help to shape the Early Years Foundation Stage Policy. All children throughout the school are monitored regularly to ensure they continue to access the curriculum successfully and to help early identification of need. A range of evidence is collected through assessment and monitoring arrangements, as well as regular formal discussions between the Special Educational, Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and the class teachers. If these suggest that any pupil is not making the expected progress, or their needs have changed, the class teacher will invite the parents/carers to school to discuss these additional needs with the SENCO. Following this, the class teacher and parents/carers, work with the SENCO to decide if, or how, additional provision is implemented. The Federation uses guidelines provided by The Hackney Learning Trust to determine if a child’s attainment and/or progress indicate that they should be placed on the SEND register. The New Wave Federation places the child’s individual needs at the forefront of any additional provision. View full school
