GlenOak offers a private school setting and a supportive learning environment where your child will benefit from our low student-teacher ratios and, depending on the program stream, the additional support of one of our experienced educational assistants. We focus on building meaningful relationships with our students, giving them the attention they deserve in order for them to see academic success regardless of ability level. Whether your child is above, at, or below grade level, our inclusive school environment will ensure your child's success. GlenOak currently offers programming for students of varied abilities from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our creative programming aims to serve a diverse population of learners who can be above, at, or below grade level. Our Excel Program is specifically designed for students at or above grade level but benefit from a more intimate learning environment. Students are admitted into our Excel Program via admissions testing in literacy and numeracy. They benefit from a 12:1 student-teacher ratio and may have an Individual Education Plan if required. Our Focus Program is a supported program offering an Educational Assistant (EA) and a 6:1 student-teacher ratio. Students benefit from comprehensive Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and small group resource support as required. Sometimes a child needs a creative educational solution that isn't offered elsewhere. At GlenOak, our outside-the-box thinking is what sets up apart! We have learning options that are flexible and fluid, meaning that we meet your child where they are to see the most significant opportunity for success. Our SPLP (Self-Paced Learning Program) is a highly individualized 1:1 remote program meant for students who cannot attend school for a variety of reasons. It is facilitated by a certified teacher using an online interface while focusing on meeting the Ontario curriculum's expectations. Our PACE Program (Progressive Adjustment to Classroom Environment) is specifically designed for students who have been out of school and require a more gradual and supported transition back to the classroom environment. Our Plus Program is a resource program run by our resource teacher that provides daily small group support to students who require additional literacy and numeracy skills. It is often used as a transition program for students in our Focus Program but who are not quite ready for the independence of our Excel Program. Learning doesn't stop on June 26th at GlenOak Academy! Our Summer Camp 2020 will be filled with an exciting combination of learning and F-U-N! Campers and parents alike will be delighted with what we have in store this year. Each week we will offer engaging programming through interactive and curriculum-focused Brain-Boost lessons, art activities, team-building games ... and MORE! The Brain Boost portion of the day is taught by certified teachers focusing on the development of foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
