- Glade Primary School is a London Borough of Redbridge Community School for boys and girls from the age of three to eleven. There are two classes per year group, except in Year three where we have an additional class. The Nursery has a morning and afternoon class of twenty-six pupils and each session is three hours long. The school is fortunate to have pleasant grounds with a field and a small wooded area with a pond and nature garden. During the past few years, the school’s Governing Body has worked with the local authority to develop the school site. This has included the building of a second hall and two new Reception classes. More recently, the Governors have completed further large projects to improve the quality of provision at Glade. This includes the refurbishment and development of the library, developing a stimulating and exciting Early Years playground, and an extension and refurbishment of the office and lobby. We have recently had a sensory room built, which provides a wonderful experience for all our students. In addition to English, our pupils speak a total of 28 languages with Urdu, Panjabi, Bengali, and Tamil being the most common. Our pupils come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and bring with them a rich cultural heritage. The school has a very positive relationship with parents and an active Parent’s Association Working for the School (PAWS). The PAWS works hard to raise funds for the school, organizing a range of fun activities for pupils and parents. Recent fundraising has led to the installation of a climbing frame in the playground, picnic benches on the field, and markings on the playground. We have many whole school events that bring the community together and are enjoyed by all, such as our school fairs and sports days. In addition to this parents/carers are invited to many musical performances and talent shows. Every week we have a Celebrations Assembly for the children to display their work and for the school to share whole school themes. Our school choir, football, netball, and swim team participate in several events and represent the school with pride. We have links with Redbridge Music and Drama services. This also enhances pupil provision and learning. This year we have been privileged to work with the London Symphony Orchestra. The ethos of the school is welcoming and governors, staff, and parents work closely together to create a harmonious environment for our community. At Glade, we firmly believe that all children should be encouraged to achieve their full potential. We are committed to developing values, attitudes, and life skills that result in children becoming respectful, resilient, and responsible citizens.
