      1. Being a spiritual descendant and successor of the national enlighteners' ideas and heritage, who founded in Gabrovo the first Bulgarian secular school, today the Technical University of Gabrovo successfully blends the traditions of the past with the potentials of the present in the area of education and science. It is a renowned academic and research center, which provides high-quality training in conformity with the labor market needs for modern broad-profile Bachelor's degrees, as well as modern Master and Doctor Degrees in the field of engineering and technologies, business and social sciences. A guarantee for this is the university's institutional accreditation and the program accreditation of the degree courses in the professional trends for Bachelor and Master and the research programs for a Ph.D. degree, granted by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency. The quality management system implemented for the university's training, research, and academic staff has been certified according to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008 by DQS GmbH and IQNet. The European Society has accredited the Technical University of Gabrovo for Engineering Education IGIP and the European Federation of National Engineering Associations FEANI. The Institute started its first academic year 1964/65 with 1327 part-time students admitted to other country's technical educational institutions. They studied in the HTIPS during the first three years and then continued and completed their education at the institution they had been initially admitted to. In 1965 Direction No. 177 of the Council of Ministers allowed the HTIPS to have its quota for admission and training of students who started and completed their higher education. HTIPS was entitled to train part-time students in the degree courses "Technology of Machine Building" and "Electrical Machines and Apparatus." Part-time students in their fourth, fifth, and sixth year also continued their studies in these degree courses, irrespective of where they had initially been admitted and enrolled. The senior academic staff for the Institute was mainly recruited from the higher technical institutions in Sofia. Decisive steps were taken for the appointment of young lecturers and assistant professors on a full-time basis. The majority of them continued their studies with postgraduate work and attained academic degrees and titles. Голяма част от тях преминават на обучение в аспирантура и придобиват съответни научни степени и звания. At the beginning of the 1970s, the HMEEI had its professors and associate professors, and their number was steadily rising. The National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency granted one of the first institutional accreditations to Gabrovo's Technical University. It programmed accreditation for the degree courses leading to Bachelor and Master's degrees and 31 research subjects for attaining Doctoral degrees. In September 2001, the Technical University of Gabrovo was accredited by the International Community for Engineering Pedagogics to train engineers for qualifying as "European Pedacogics Engineer," which the European Union recognized UNESCO. The university's educational and research activities are carried out by a highly-qualified academic staff of 240 people. Using the latest teaching methods, abundant material resources, and social acquisitions, the lecturers provide excellent learning and personal development on the part of the students. The university is actively involved in the European educational and research programs and carries out fruitful and efficient cooperation with Bulgarian and foreign universities. The Technical University of Gabrovo takes pride in its tens of thousands of graduates, who pursue successful careers in this country and abroad and contribute to modern society's development.
