      1. Welcome to All Souls St Gabriels School. As a parent, deciding on the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Here you will find just a glimpse of what it is like to be a part of the “Souls & Gabes” community. A community with passion and pride and a school where lifelong friendships are formed in a safe and inclusive environment. We have a proud history dating back to 1920, and a forward thinking, innovative approach to education. We provide students with a firm grounding in the Anglican traditions of tolerance, respect, tradition and dignity with a true sense of respect and care for ourselves and each other. Every day, our community lives out its motto “Servire Regnare”, to serve is to reign. All Souls St Gabriels School provides an all-round education for students from Pre-Prep to Year 12 on a large rural campus situated in the historic town of Charters Towers, an education hub only 1½ hours inland from the city of Townsville. We are “One School”, a blend of local students and those from all over Northern Australia. With a residential community of over 200 students, staff and their families, and a strong pastoral and support program. We are the boarding specialists. All Souls St Gabriels School has a long tradition of academic, vocational and extra-curricular success and a reputation for developing outstanding young men and women who are destined to make a difference in this ever changing world. With an average teacher student ratio of 1:15 in the Junior School and 1:16 in the Secondary School, All Souls St Gabriels School has very manageable class sizes. This brings numerous benefits to our students. Teachers can spend more time with each student. Teachers know each student individually. Teachers have time to work on lesson preparation. There is also less demand on facilities which Junior students can easily access. In many larger schools, the Juniors often miss out. We are keeping faith with the many past students who owe so much to our school and who have made such a valuable contribution to the good name of the school. We are keeping faith with all those past and present students, past and present staff and past and present parents who fought so hard to save our school in the dark days at the end of 1999. We are keeping faith with the local community of Charters Towers which fought alongside the school community to ensure that ASSG remained part of the fabric of the town. And we are keeping faith with all those students still to come, who will enjoy and benefit from a “Souls” education. Our founders, the Brotherhood of St Barnabas (All Souls) and the Sisters of the Sacred Advent (St Gabriels) had a great vision and faith when they established schools in Charters Towers. At All Souls St Gabriels Junior School we offer a well-rounded curriculum experience based on the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework. We place a strong focus on the explicit teaching of the basic building blocks of literacy and numeracy skills, but also offer opportunities for the children to explore and reach their potential in other curriculum areas. Specialists teachers teach Music (Year 1 – 6), Health and Physical Education (Pre-Prep – Year 6) and German (Prep – Year 6). Our highly skilled teachers will engage your child in challenging and stimulating learning experiences and provide appropriate intervention strategies to meet each child’s learning needs. We value service to others and strive to develop the whole person in mind, body and spirit. OUR SENIOR SCHOOL (YEARS 7-12) OFFERS An ordered environment which forms the development of self-discipline in students Small class sizes – a maximum of 25 students Excellent academic profile (with 3 Rhodes Scholars in the school’s history) Subjects which include all the popular traditional academic subjects as well as practical TAFE linked subjects and traineeships Five state of the art Science labs, library, art and music facilities, three computer labs, extensive manual arts facilities, home economics kitchen, five ovals, swimming pool, indoor netball and basketball facility and gym (Jim Rebgetz Sports Centre), horse and cattle clubs.
