A spirit of transformation, momentum, and optimism characterizes FSU's many enterprises. By incorporating the use of numerous strategies that enable a vigorous learning process (such as enriching travel, relevant technologies, interdisciplinary study, joint research, creative activities, and professionalizing experiences), our professors encourage their students to be active partners in the learning process. In addition to being ardent educators, our faculty are also professionals who engage with their disciplines as scholars and practitioners. Together with their publications and presentations at professional conferences, many of our faculty practice their disciplines through public service. For example, FSU has established numerous centers and institutes, where faculty, staff, and top students provide professional outreach to the community. Students will find many opportunities to involve themselves in their education. Research experiences, internships and field experiences, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, connecting with the faculty, staff, and other students - all these are beautiful chances for our students to cultivate leadership skills. In addition to all these opportunities, there is support for student learning and success all across campus, whether it comes from our faculty, our Center for Academic Support and Achievement (CASA), our Career Services and Employer Relations Office, our Counseling Center, or from our Henry Whittemore Library. The Office of Marketing and Communications coordinates internal and external communication efforts and marketing for Framingham State University. This includes handling media inquiries, issuing press releases, creating publications, and coordinating graphic design requests. The Commonwealth Honors Program at Framingham State University is designed to provide academically talented students with the opportunity to enrich their educational experience with courses both within and outside their major program of study. Courses bearing the "Honors" designation are drawn from a wide range of disciplines and are designed to be intensive and intellectually challenging. Honors courses draw upon students' analytical and creative talents. Designed for a maximum enrollment of 20 students, honors courses aim to foster in-depth class discussion and a close student-instructor relationship. The Arts and Ideas Series complements the classroom. Formal learning informs, stimulates, and challenges; certainly the series takes it from there and connects you with today's great thinkers and practitioners of the craft. You will hear from one of the world's leading Thoreau scholars on the nature of duty and disobedience, meet the founder of an international organization for LGBTIQ Muslims as he discusses being queer and Muslim in the Trump era and engage with a photography installation focused on the puzzles of work and family in the context of diversity and change. Arts and Ideas celebrate performance art, too! Move to the music of an Indian Sufi band. Listen to poetry that examines themes of growing up transgender.
